Options to auto-tune or manual re-tune are greyed

Following UK channel redesignation it's necessary to re-tune TV set. But options to auto-tune or manual re-tune are all greyed out on the menu - I've detached digibox and recorders and connected TV direct to the aerial. What's the solution please?

Problem solved!!
According to the Sony website I needed to get a software download in order to fix this problem. I found out how to do this from the manual and realised that the re-tune menu I was looking at was for analogue only. The pictograms onmy remote control are a blurred but the manual helpfully provided a picture showing the correct program "info" button (next to 0) which has options to look at other things, including a "detailed set up" menu on the blue tab, which provides options for software download and re-tune of digital channels.
Incidentally, I discovered that my TV model was not quite as quoted above - it is KD-28DX200U, but expect the same process works for other oldish models.

Auto tuning Lowry tv?..no remote

If you don't have a remote, your TV should have a built-in "Menu" button. Find and select the "Channel Scan" option in your TV's menu. This option is sometimes labeled "Rescan," "Tune," or "Auto-tune." If you can't find the "Channel Scan" option, dig through the TV's "Settings," "Tools," "Channels," or "Options" menu.

Why are there tuning problems in the UK with a TV bought in HK?

TV transmisson system in HK is very similar to that of UK. By the way, if you try to watch PAL transmission (UK standard) on a NTSC TV (US standard) you can see the signal, probably weird, distorted, incorrect colors, jumping, I really don't know what you should see but definitively you can see something. If you can't get ANY sigal, neither from air nor from cable, it's a problem in your TV. Did you test it in HK? Probably you need technical assitance.

hi,
To Re- tune your TV you have to go to the Auto tuning option in the menu. do the following procedure for auto scan all the available channels.

To tune the free view analogue channels do the following procedure.

1. Press the Menu/setup button on the remote.
2. Select Auto tuning and press enter.
3.Select the country and press enter.
4. Select start and press enter.
The automatic tuning will search for available broadcasts and should store the channels in the correct order. During the search the sound is muted. When all programs have been stored, the normal TV screen will appear.
If you can sent your email address through fixya then i will sent the user manual for Toshiba 19A 615 DB.

New LG 32LD350 - Allowed TV to auto-program channels, and for some reason, it skipped past channel 4 during the tuning process. When I select channel 4 in the tuning options, it comes up as no signal. On...

When you are auto tuning the system will not store a channel which is week by its standard ( at least 60% signal strength ) This done to avoid grainy picture and hissy sound.
You can go into manual tuning and store it.

Not receiving channel 5. Cannot re-tune TV.

You can only access auto tuning by going through the digital menu via information button on remote. Pressing the menu button only brings up analogue set up.

Problems tuning TV and SLV-900

the video recorder has it's own tuner you do not actually record from the tv... think of the vcr as like a tv but without a screen... connect to your tv via a scart lead and while you are on the vcr's 'channel' (so you could see a tape playing on your tv) and access the menu on you vcr (not the tv's menu) choos auto tune if the vcr supports it or manual tune if it has no auto tune and tune in the required channels on your vcr... it is simply then a matter of selecting on your vcr which channel you wish to record
