You have tripped the tv's safety power down feature, try unplugging the tv for 15 mins to an hour then try to turn it back on, if it still ceases to function, the tv will need servicing.

Testimonial: "ive had it off for a couple days now. i tried it the other day and it still wasnt working. im going to try it one more time. thank you!"

Your TV power board could be damaged. You can have a TV tech come out and check the fuse or power capacity if it is damage from power overload. Or you can order on ebay and watch youtube videos to follow the steps on how to fix it.

I have a Philips 42"

The most common problem with those TVs is the burnout of the infamous trio of Y sustain board and buffer boards.

To test if it is them at fault you can disconnect the power to the Y sustain and try to turn the TV on.

If it comes and stays on then this is it.
