New computer - will I lose music files when I connect iRiver

Hi - I have a lot of music on my iRiver H10. I have a new computer with none of the music on it. If I plug my iRiver into the new computer will I lose the music I have on it? If yes, how can I ever add anymore music?

Switching between pc's will not remove any thing from your player when you plug it in. If you are want to to add the same songs to you pc from the player it is very easy to do.
Open you device in my compute (computer for win vista-8) Open your pc's music folder and just drag and drop from your player to computers music folder. No nothing will be removed from your player at all.
You can use the drag and drop method to re-add music or you can use windows media player with it's built in sync feature.
In windows media player look at the right side of the player and will have 3 tabs play burn sync. Switch to the sync tab place your music in the list
then above your device icon press start sync. Just that easy.
No having to open various folders as with drag and drop method.
Sync feature allows you to view as it is sync so you can see the status of each file individually. To view this list as it is syncing, click the progress bar that shows in the sync list pane. You can then view if a song is in progress has been added or failed to add as well if the song is already on the device.

You definitely won't lose your music. You can add to the player normally. My iriver actually syncs with two different PCs with different music on them.

Iriver won't let me upload from CDs and transfer....

Best way to use the H10 20gb is by creating a directory on your hard drive with your desired mp3 format files. Use ripping and encoding software with your existing audio cds.
Connect the h10 to the PC via the UMS trick (see this website).

Using a file directory on your pc, drag and drop the mp3 files from your pc to the MUSIC file folder on the h10. Install and run the EASY10 playlist creator software on your pc to organize the new files on your iRiver player. Disconnect the USB connection and enjoy!

Files in Iriver H10 not appearing in music.

try this...

connect your h10 to the pc using the ums trick with the usb connection..
For 20 GB MTP Models
  • Make sure your H10 is turned off and disconnected from the computer.
  • Poke the "reset" button with a paperclip.
  • Turn on the hold switch (so that you don't accidentally turn the H10 on all the way).
  • Plug the H10 into your computer.
  • Turn on the H10 while holding the "O" button.
  • You will see the message "Emergency Connection" if you have done everything correctly. You can now let go of the "O" button.
download and run EASYh10 software (free playlist maker). It will scan the files in your music folder and build/save a playlist to your h10.
disconnect player and give it a try...

iRiver H10 - Missing System Files
You must be connected to the internet for this to work: 1.Download the MTP Firm Updater Utility from iriver website - iriverinc.com/support (Audio Jukebox --> H10) 2. Unzip file, run .exe file, go thorugh wizard (if you are not in mass storage mode, it will give you instructions on the wizard on how to change this) 3. Select Recovery 4. Finish going through wizard 5. disconnect iRiver from computer, and wait for it to update - your player should be good.
If the problem happens again, then uninstall Windows Media Player 11 from your computer and rollback to Windows Media Player 10 (you will NOT lose any songs by doing so).
Good luck!

I need to restore the system files for my H10 Iriver MP3 player

go to www.iriver.com people - what the f--- do you think it means?

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

How to back up music library

Plug in your Mp3 player
Double-click My Computer
Double click the icon corresponding to your iRiver
Double click the music folder
Right click the desktop, select "new," and select "folder" - create a folder named "Temporary iRiver Backup" (or whatever name you want to give to the folder)
Start dragging files from "My Computer" window to "temporary IRiver backup" window

There are other ways, but this is one good way.
