You can change the region code with updates but its risky cos once you upload the update for the region code it may not let you play the other region coded games

To change your PS5 region code, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Turn on your PlayStation and select "New User", then click "Create a User".
  2. Accept the User Agreement. You will be prompted to sign in to PSN - Just scroll down past this message.
  3. Select "New to PlayStation Network? Create an Account."
  4. Choose your new region. Make sure to choose the region that relates to the version of the PlayStation Store that you want to access. If you're trying to download a game that's only available in Japan, choose Japan (and have Google Translate ready).
  5. Select your preferred language, enter your date of birth, and press "Next."
  6. Enter your location details. I used Google to find the address of a hotel in New York and used its zip code (10001). The city and state/province will pop up automatically. Hit "Next."
  7. Enter your email address and password. You need to use a new email that isn't already attached to a PSN Account, then click "Next."
  8. Create your profile. Select an avatar, create an online ID, choose your privacy and connections settings.
  9. Click "Accept" on the Terms of Service and User Agreement page.
  10. Open the PlayStation Store. You're ready to use your new account!
Alternatively, you can change the region code of your DVDs, so that you can play them on any DVD player. To change the region code of DVDs, you can use Leawo DVD Copy, it is is a powerful DVD backup tool for people to back up their DVD contents with ease. It's capable of backing up DVD disc, folder and ISO image files. It can remove DVD disc protection thus allowing you to back up whatever disc you like freely.

If you have only a few DVD discs of region 1, I won't recommend changing the region code as your devices might stay at the last kind of region code forever. You can remove the DVD region code by getting a DVD copy tool to copy the region 1 DVD but without region code. You could try Leawo DVD Copy.

I bought a playstation 3 in South Africa and have moved to Australia and I can get any game or DVD to play on it that I have bought in Australia why?

I think you wanted to write that you CAN'T watch DVDs or play games bought in Australia on your PS3.
The reason is the region code of your playstation. It only can play Region Code 2 DVDs and games. In Australia you only can buy Region Code 4 media.
You need to buy your media from south africa or Europe. Some blueray-discs are region code free. You can check this on: http://www.blurayregioncodes.com/
As far as I know it's not possible at the moment to change the region code of the play station.

Our Sony DVD player will not playimported DVDs from the UStates

1) those DVDs are coded in Region 1(Canada, United States; U.S. territories; Bermuda)
you will have to change the region code on the dvd-rom to region 1

2) if you bought the stand alone DVD player in the U.S. it will play region 1 dvds and nothing else(some dvd players will play region code 1-6)

3) to change the code in windows vista you'll have to go under the drive property's in the device manager go to the dvd region tab and set it to what ever the number on the back of the dvd is WARNING you only get 4 changes before the drive locks you out permanently then your stuck with what ever number you put in on the 4th try you've been warned

windows xp/2000/98/me
you'll have to change the region code from your software player again your limited on how many times you can change the region code before you have to reinstall the dvd player software

Changing the region code

Hi,

You can only change the region code a few times (usually 5), so I wouldn't do it. You should leave the current player at region 1, and buy and install another DVD player and set it to region 4, then you will have 1 for each region you want.

MY japoneese ps3

The pal ps2 games and dvds will not play on a Japanese ps3 due to region coding. You can play all ps3 games and blu ray films because they do not use region coding. Some games will also play differently on a ps3, for example, Uncharted: Drakes Fortune (I highly recommend the game) will not have any blood on a Japanese ps3. The region coding feature can not be changed/modified. I would recommend returning Japanese ps3 and purchasing a European model instead if that is possible. Bon chance.
