I just bought a 2nd hand Kirby & not really know how to start. it didn't come with any operation Manual or CD. I realized its a re-po set. I think its Kirby Ultimate G Bagged Upright Vacuum, as there is nothing to identify it.

the brush bar has 3 settings marked on the end of the plastic clips that hold the bar in place make sure it is set to no 2 both ends,lay machine down and start roll should spin also check bar is free to move by hand

kirby has a 3 yr back to base guarentee so contact ur local rep or kirby direct and thy will sort it all from there, hope this helps :)

rotate the front belt lifter from green to red then rotate the locking knob above the nozzle. and the head will lift off. it helps if you put the height adjustment in the highest setting. did it smell like rubber burning?

Go to youtube and look up kirby vacuum manual by goodvac.com

it will show you from the start how to setup everything for your Kirby

cord is probably faulty

take off the cover over the plug and plug in an IEC plug ( used on computers) and see if it works

Did you ever find a use and care book for this vacuum.  I have one I could scan for you.

they are pretty easy to use you cant really put it together the "wrong way" they wont fit :-)

Turn the belt lifter to red arrows matching to sweep the kitchen floor. This stops the brushroll from turning and allows you to use straight suction. There is a hard floor pad available...see the link to my guide and you may find one for sale...
As for mopping...I just dump a small bit of soapy water on the floor and run my Kirby shampooer (with no solution in the tank) on the lowest setting to scrub, then I dry mop behind it to pick up the excess water. There really are no instructions in the manual for scrubbing linoleum, but I just improvised. It splashes a bit, but better than getting down on hands and knees.
