Craftsman garden tractor quits when brake released.

20 hp 50'' cut Craftsman Garden Tractor runs fine at full throttle when the break is let out the engine starts to die if you push back in it throttles back up????

Sorry Dunnnutt, but the throttle cable is quite far away from the brake pedal mechanism. Try this Buckijoe: The brake pedal has a switch (look under the tractor) which avoids cranking the engine unless the pedal is fully depressed. A defective switch and related cabling might ground the ignition thus killing the engine when you release the pedal.

does the engine run until you release the brake? if so look at the seat switch it is supposed to kill the engine if you get off with the mower in gear.

I would check the wires and clean the connectors and make sure seat switch is working. If that is not working, it's like getting off the seat without holding the brake/clutch pedal down or getting off seat with blades engaged. Both will cause engine to die.
