no you cant just hook it to a red wire because its red. what are you hooking up? im assumeing a stero, you can however hook up it without a "harness" but you need to know what you are hooking up. since its red its most likely a power wire on your stero but not always the case on the vehicle. also some wires are switched power or "remote" power meaning when the key is turned off they are not electricfied or "hot" and some are constant meaning they ar always hot. give more details and i can help more.
the dash lights dont get fed from the stereo , you may have dislodged the wiring connector from the rear of the dash , give them all a push back on , don't worry about the spare wires , they will be for an electric aerial etc
rca cables for audio and a remote wire. just plug the rca cables into the plugs in the back of the deck and the remote wire (i suggest buying a thicker (speaker wire size) gauge wire since it allows you to get more power out of the amp) to the blue remote wire coming from the deck. you will also need an 8 gauge power wire (12 inches to 12 feet depending on where the battery and amp are) and an 8 gauge ground wire (no longer than 24 inches).
i to have that sub and i hook it up to my dell 1501 i use a mini steroe plug it has two input so you can hook up two device get two y cables on one end it will have a plug like your headphone plug on the other end has two male the ones you hook up at the back of your steroe the other cable is a y cable as well this one has two female end and steroe end to hook up to the sub connect both wires to become one male to female one end goes to the computer the other end the sub you cant do it wrong there is only one plug that will fit hope this helps .
YOU DONT NEED TO HOOK THE PINK WIRE UP JUST PUT IN A DVD AND TYPE IN 543210. THIS IS A BYPASS CODE SO YOU CAN PLAY DVD WITHOUT HOOKING UP THE PINK WIRE. YOU MUST HOLD DOWN THE 0 FOR 4 SECONDS WHEN PUTTING IN THE CODE.
If the amplifier has inputs for a high level signal, you unhook the wires going into the speaker and plug them into the amp, then hook the outputs up to the speakers. If the amp only has rca inputs, you need to also buy a line level converter. Then you unhook the speakers, hook the wires up the the converter, then hook the converter up to the amp, then hook the amp up to the speakers.
Don't think you'll find a solution, from what I've been reading this is a problem that alot of jensen products have. I ended up replaceing mine with the 6112 but could not hook up the CD Changer so I got the 4610 which right now is working fine, so I tried putting the 6112 in another car but now it wont power on, whats up with jensen ?? I think their more trouble than their worth.
