SOURCE: LITEON DVD/CD-RW CAN READ DVD BUT NOT AUDIO/DATA CD.

I would suggest cleaning the drive with a cleaning dvd, $19.99 at most retailers. Or you can open up your computer and verify all connections to the drive are good, disconnect and re-connect to be sure. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Lite On LH-18A1P DVD RW

Copywrited DVD Movies require that an MPEG software DVD Decoder be installed on your system. Windows doesn't include any because of their Anti-Trust violations and court issues.
(not to be confused with other media players, and DVD players that are included with DVD Movies, such as HOTLLAMA, and Interactive - you still need a DECODER. This is a throwback to the early days of PC DVD ROM's that required a HARDWARE MPEG DVD DECODER be installed, usually in a PCI slot, and connected to your video card through the VESA expansion connector. Nowadays, the hardware is built into the DVD unit, but it still requires a software decoder to operate).

Every DVD ROM or Burner comes with one...usually "Cyberlink PowerDVD", and now Nero's included one in their bundled OEM package.
Any version of any one of these will unlock the "DVD Movie" features for all media player installed on your PC.
[oops, almost forgot, you need Nero 7 or better for Vista. Any Cyberlink should work for you].

If you don't have one, try borrowing one from anyone who's got one. You can also go the P2P route, and download one, if you're so inclined.
Good luck, and I hope that fixes your problem!

SOURCE: Burned CD's won't play in auto CD player

I had the problem of burned CD's not playing in my car. I used a CD-R and burned it at "slow" burn rate. Now I don't have a problem with playing the cd's in my car player. Try it, it worked for me.

you may not install the proper drivers of your burner, install it again and use some other burner application like nero cd burner etc.

It want burn any movies that are downloaded. Liteon model LDW811S

Hi,

if it,s only downloaded movies, that won,t burn/Write.
I,d assume that the downloaded content, is Copyright Protected.
Other suggestions Are:- your CD/DVD Burner does not support the types of files, that are being downloaded. You could try a Video Converter Program. Or alternatively. Change your DVD Burning Software.

I CANNOT GET MY CD TO READ AND BURN A CD.....DVD

Try using a good quality dvd cleaner. The cd lens could be dirty causing cd funstions not to work. There is a different lens for the dvd so it's highly possible that one function will work but not the other if dirty. If this does not work you may have a lens that has become disoriented. If this is the case then with todays priced, decent dvd/cd burner for under $40 it would be cheaper to replace the drive than attempt to repair. Good luck & I hope this helps.

My LITE-ON DVDRW LH-20A1H thinks its a cd burner???

It seems Lite-on Has a lot of Probs. In fact I had the same model on an SATA system. It would not burn dvd's or cd's.You can try updating your burning software, and reinstalling the drive through device manager.I actually ended up buying an LG burner....lo-and behold...it works without any problems.Good luck

My burner isn't burning DVDs properly!

Try a different brand of DVD and use a lens cleaner it just may need a clean up.
