Check to see if it shows up in "Disk Management".
Right-click My Computer >> Manage >> Disk Management.

If so, it may need to be formatted.

External hard driev beeping and not recognized by the PCs

go to disk management and check drive letter has been automatically assigned to the external HDD. Rescan the drives may resolve your problem.

Right clik on my computer. clik on manage. go on disk management. See if ever you find your HDD.
