GFCI alarm stays on

Melisa, Breaker/GFI may be going bad. You may have to get an electrician to check for short or faulty motor/heater, etc. Check the attached links,instruction and guides, Good luck

if this is an auxiliary GFCI Spa Disconnect,
240 VAC, 50 Amp, then...
All of the following needs to be this way:

• 4 wires from MAIN Circuit panel, into GFCI disconnect box, 2 hots, 1 Neutral, 1 ground
  • 2 hots go onto the disconnects Power Bus Bar for breaker
  • 1 white Nuetral goes to Isolated nuetral bus bar
  • 1 green Ground goes to ground lug directly on the box
• 1 GFCI in the auxiliary disconnect box
  • The White Pigtail of the GFCI Breaker goes onto the Isolated Nuetral bus bar. There are now two wires there.
• 4 wires come into box from Spa. (Unless the spa is Specifically a 3 Wire Connection Spa!)
  • 2 Hot/Line wires will go into the L1 & L2 lugs of the breaker respectively.
  • 1 White Nuetral Wire will go into breaker as well at the "Load Nuetral lug, usually marked as 'LN'.
  • It will NOT go on the Isolated Nuetral bus bar.
  • Green Ground wire will be connected to ground lug, 2 wires are now connected there.
• Connections at spa will be respectively connected: the 2 hots on line 1 and line 2. White wire goes to Nuetralnd green ground will go to a Ground Lug, most likely to metal control box.

If it's not wired in this manner, it is wired WRONG.

26 Installing two pole GFI breaker

I'm not clear on why you can't use a GFI Breaker. Has someone said this to you, or have you tried using a GFI and it didn't work? Does the heater run off 120 v or 240 v?

The threaded knob should not be related to the problem, it just controls how much air gets mixed into the water jets. One possibility is that the electricity is off. These tubs should receive power through a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) type of circuit breaker for your protection from electrical shock. Check your circuit breaker panel(s) for a breaker with a little square white or yellow "test" button. Refer to the label (if it is there) to see if it refers to "tub" or "spa" or "bath" or something like that. You may have to turn the breaker handle off (push extra hard to make it reset) and then back on again. If the breaker handle is in the "on" position and the "test" button does not "trip it off," call an electrician. If no luck there, check the bathroom for an electrical outlet with GFCI protection, again looking for white or yellow (or red) buttons - one should be engraved "test" and the other "reset" as the electrician (I hope it was an electrician) may have supplied the tub from this outlet (not actually up to code). Plug an appliance or light into the outlet. If it doesn't work, push the reset button on the outlet and test again. If working, now test the spa. If that doesn't work, test every other GFCI outlet you can find - in the kitchen, other baths, garage, outdoors, basement, etc. using the same testing procedure. If you find a GFCI breaker or outlet "tripped" that restores the tub, that indicates there is something wrong with your electrical system that could cause you to get electrocuted, and requires that you hire a qualified electrician to investigate the problem. The same is true for any GFCI outlet that does not "trip" and/or "reset." If this doesn't fix the tub, the problem may not be electrical but some other problem with the system, indicating a plumber or spa tech may need to be consulted. Note: these GFCI breakers and outlets are supposed to be tested and reset once every month. How many of us do that? Well, at least as often as we test our smoke detectors, I suppose.

2-pole 240Volt gfci circuit breaker requires the white wire be connected to neutral busbar.

Easy solution for 240Volt spa that comes with gfci:
Replace spa gfci with regular non-gfci breaker.
Install 2-pole GFCI breaker in main panel, and connect wire to spa breaker.

Having 2 breakers is not a problem.
Having 2 GFCI on same circuit is a problem.

What type breaker?
GFCI or ordinary heat-rated breaker?

Do NOT use two GFCIs on same circuit.
Spa needs GFCI to protect people while immersed in water.

You might have dangerous short, or leaking element, bad switch, bad wiring, bad electrical connection, or undersized wire and breaker.
If breaker is undersized for load, it can get loose on the busbar and then start arcing, and then tripping. Use nose to smell for burning. Feel breakers to see if they are warm. Move wire to different same-size breaker.

Circuit breakers do wear out. The GFCI could also be bad. If it is neither of those the Hi Limit sensor may have failed, it is a safety switch which prevents normal operation of the spa if not functioning correctly. There could possibly be another electrical fault, the heater element could be compromised.

Would say yes as motor probably had water in it causing gfci to trip.

Check for a water leak in the electrical areas of your spa... specifically look closely around the heater terminals, look for wet and corroded connections... If this spa is wired to a plug-in outlet, look at the GFCI plug assembly as well... You can also try disconnecting the blower, pump, heater, etc, from the control pack (one at a time) to determine which item is causing the tripping.

gfci's are designed to trip if they receive voltage on there ground/neutral side, therefore my vote is for Smithbrother I would say there is probably a partial short somewhere in you system.
