My laptop touchpad stopped working

I have a compaq cq50 laptop and the touchpad stopped working. I can't find a place in the software to look at the settings. I have obviously rebooted with no success. A mouse plugged into the USB port works fine.

Hello,
Go to Control panel, Classic View. Click the mouse icon. Under TouchPad Tab make sure that the touchpad is enable. Under the Advanced tab you can configure the touchpad further.
Hope it helps.

This is probably a driver issue if you are lucky other wise the touch pad must have become faulty

if its a driver issue go to this site
http://www.synaptics.com/support/drivers
and download the drivers according to your operating system

install them and check if the touch pad starts working

if not then its probably a physical fault and needs replacing

Touchpad of my laptop compaq presario cq40 touchpad is not working when i convert my OS to win7, meanwhile i use a mouse. ive search for a driver yet still not working. can you help me for this.

If you have searched for the driver and it is still not working then it is most likely a hardware failure and will need to be replaced. I recommend contacting compaq.

Compaq cq50 touchpad isnt working, and the keyboard isnt working either when using the usb mouse, and it is all running very slowly.

You have a device conflict. Laptops do not like USB mice.
To fix this you will need the hands-on help of an expert, or
assistance from Compaq (good luck) or the mouse maker.

Touchpad not working on compaq cq50

Go here(http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/welcome.html#Product) to drivers and support. My touch pad button turned white and orange, but the pad was still active either color. I downloaded the drivers and wow, how nice now not to end up typing somewhere in the middle of my paragraph.

Compaq Presario CQ50 + over sensitive touch pad

Try the mouse settings in the control panel, also try uninstall any touchpad software and remove any touchpad software from running when the pc boots.
To do this either type msconfig into the run/search box or a program like cc cleaner under tools/startup

Compaq Presario CQ50 touchpad won't work.

Click on Start menu, click Control Panel, under Hardware and Sounds click Mouse. Once the mouse window is open click the last tab that says Device Settings. Make sure the Synaptics TouchPad V7.0 is Enabled. If it's not, then enable it by clicking at enable. Also double check your speed on the mouse pad to make sure it's not set to slow.

Compaq Presario CQ50 - touchpad problems

A simple but temporary solution would be to use an external mouse. Logitech sells several affordable and very nice wireless mice. Then you could disable the touchpad. I find them more trouble then their worth anyway and by using an external mouse you'll most definitely increase your productivity. :)
