GE profile Model: CAN17 side-by-side water dispenser works, the ice auger turns but it will not fill up the tray with water at all so no cubes are ever made.
Re: GE profile side-by-side water dispenser works, no ice...
Ice maker bad or the ice maker water valve mounted on the same bracket as the dispenser is bad. These frigs are prone to bad ice makers after a few years.

THere is a plastic "hub" at the back of the bucket which attaches to the auger. THE "hub" catches a "fork" like device at back of ice maker which turns. The "fork" turns and in turn is supposed to turn the auger. That plastic hub could be torn up, broken, jammed, or otherwise not working correctly. That is what is wrong with mine.
try pulling out the ice bucket, remove all ice and look for signs of damage on the auger mechanism... most of the time the ice tends to clump up and that prevents the auger from moving freely.
If the auger will move freely with ice out of the pan then the auger motor may be defective. Sometimes the connection in the door switch is defective. When the door is closed the switch turns the circuit on to the auger and control panel. Because the auger uses more amps that the water dispenser the door switch may be the problem or auger motor is just worn out.
If you cant manually turn your auger motor, it may be bad. Does it dispense solid ice or no ice at all? Another thing may be your control panel. That could be bad too, it's the one sending juice to both your solenoid and auger motor.
Sounds like the dispenser auger is frozen up or stuck. The lights dimming happens because the voltage drop from the stuck auger's motor when you try to use it. Remove the ice machine and clean it. Do not try to take it apart! Sometimes, the ice machine will fill too much with water and get stuck. Often, it's because the cabinet isn't level.
ON THE AUGER MOTOR IS A COUPLER THAT SLIDES INTO THE AUGER WHEN THE BIN IS INSTALLED. SOMETIMES, THE COUPLER WILL ROUND OUT THE FLAT SIDE OF THE CENTER HOLE. THIS WILL CAUSE THE MOTOR TO CONTINUE TO TURN, BUT THE COUPLER WILL REMAIN STILL DUE TO THE RESISTANCE OF THE BIN AUGER. ALSO, BE SURE THE ICE IN THE BIN HASN'T MELTED TOGETHER BINDING UP THE AUGER. IF NECESSARY, REMOVE THE ICE AND START OVER WITH FRESH ICE. YOU MAY NEED TO REPLCAE THE COUPLER OR AUGER MOTOR.
Scorpio, remove the ice bin itself, dump the ice and see if you can move the bin auger by hand by turning the actuator in the rear. If the bin is ok, with the door open and the door switch held in see if the auger motor is turning when pressing the ice lever. If it's not turning the next logical step is to see whether the auger motor is getting voltage when calling for ice. Make sure the door switch is closed. The part number for the auger motor on the posted model is wr60x0202. Hope this gets you going..Catriver.
