Ok. I guess you should try unplugging the usb to the 860 and only have the 830 plugged. Click on start, control panel, printers and faxes, then select the 830, then a window should come up, click the word PRINTER, then select default. try restarting pc and doing a scan. I hope this works. I cannot be certain as other factors may be involved.

I have trouble setting up wireless printing for my Canon MX860 printer.

This model printer has only a USB connection to a computer and cannot be setup as a wireless printer without additional wireless networking equipment.

I have a MP830 and when I try to scan in a doc. to my mac, it takes forever. I get this message "Processing calibration data from a scanner. Do not open the document cover."

The greater the detail setting the scanner is set to scan at, the greater will be the time taken to complete the scan process.

Lowering the detail settings may reduce the time taken to scan a document.
These settings may be found in the software that came with your printer.

How do you change the resolution for scanning?

  1. Launch MP Navigator EX.
  2. On the Windows desktop, double-click the 'MP Navigator EX' icon.
  3. Alternatively, in the Windows taskbar, click 'Start', click '(All) Programs', 'Canon Utilities', 'MP Navigator EX' folder, then 'MP Navigator EX' icon.

  4. Click 'Photos/Documents (Platen)' on the Scan/Import tab.
  5. When the Scan/Import window is displayed, check Use the scanner driver, then click Open Scanner Driver.
  6. Change the resolution.
According to your purpose, set the resolution in Simple Mode with ease, or in Advanced Mode with a detailed setting.

To set the resolution in Simple Mode:

    (A) Select the 'Simple Mode' tab.

    (B) In Destination drop-down, select the resolution which suits the purpose.
  7. To set the resolution in Advanced Mode:

    (A) Select the 'Advanced Mode' tab.

    (B) In Output Resolution drop-down, select one of the preset resolutions, or enter a number from 25 to 19200 to specify your favorite resolution.

In either Simple or Advanced Modes, select other settings as required and then click 'Scan' to start scanning
Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks.

I am repeatedly getting error code 5010 once I scan any document.

Ok it can be either 2 things: The FIRST is if you have not UNLOCKED the scanner lock switch. The scanner lock switch is a switch that keeps the scanner assembly frozen in place so that when you move your scanner from room to room or apartment to house, the scanner wont freely move around the unit causing it to be dammaged.

To unlock the Scanner lock switch just lift your document cover and look for the swtch on the LEFT hand side of the scanner's glass bed.

SECOND: IF the scanner lock swtich is set at UNLOCK, then your scanner assembly is broken and needs to be replaced. You must then send it to Cannon or any Mulitfunction printer repair place.

I hope this helps you :)

I cannot scan more than one page at a time.

The scanner can only scan one at a time, if you can't scan multiple pages you need to adjust the scanning software and settings, not the printer or scanner.

In the menu(on the printer), there is a option where in you can specify if you want the scanner to scan in mono or colour it is set to mono that is why you are not getting any colour scans.
