When the machine starts to wash water passes into the detergent dispenser and carries the detergent into the drum, if the detergent outlet is blocked, or resticted, this will cause the water to leak out of the dispenser.
Check the dispenser to see if an accumulated crust of powder is clogging the outlet holes, most dispensers are removable for cleaning, check your machine instructions for details.
We just had the same problem. After taking out the detergent tray, we saw the water was not draining into the drum. Feeling around the door seal in the upper corner (there is a small opening all the way around, between the door seal and drum seal, that you can fit your fingers into - please unplug your maching), my husband felt some fabric, and pulled out a mangled toddler pillowcase, which would have been in there for about two - three loads prior to finding the leak. Odds are you may have some medium size fabric piece in there, and is likely is the blockage. This is where the water seems to drain from the detergent compartmemt to the Drum.
There should not be suds up that high in the washer. You are experiencing a over sudsing condition and spin is throwing up throw the fill line in the dispenser. Run some fabric softener in a load with no clothes to clean out any hidden suds. Then use only HE (High efficiency) detergent and half of what they recommend! The softer the water the less the soap you use. Sounds like you may be using non HE detergent. My guess if the machine is fine.
Is water left in the dispenser at the end of the cycle?
About two tablespoons of water remaining in the dispenser compartment at the end of the cycle is normal. At the end of the wash cycle, fresh water automatically cleans the dispenser. Check that the cycle is complete before opening the dispenser drawer. Is the dispenser drawer clogged?
A clogged dispenser can block the flow of water through the dispenser and cause water to leak out. Manually remove the dispenser, and clean any leftover detergent or additives that could clog the flow of water through the dispenser. Also, check that the detergent drawer is always completely closed during the cycle. If the drawer is not closed completely, water can leak out onto the floor. Are the additives dispensing too early?
Here are a few things that can cause the additives (detergent, fabric softener or liquid chlorine bleach) to dispense early:
Check that the dispenser is not overfilled. Do not fill past the MAX fill lines on the dispenser. Overfilling can cause early dispensing of liquid chlorine bleach and/or fabric softener.
Check that the detergent separator is in the correct position. For liquid detergent, the separator should be in the front position. For powdered detergent, the separator should be in the rear position. If the separator is in the rear position while you are using liquid detergent, it will dispense immediately, which is not how it is designed to work.
Use powdered HE detergent when using the DELAY WASH option. Liquid detergent may dispense prior to the start of wash.
Are the additives dispensing too late?
The additives will not dispense until the proper time if the DELAY WASH option is selected.
are you sure it's dispenser and not pump if your sure it's the dispenser try cleaning it out ..if's it has a bleach dispenser on right side pull the outer cover off and clean the holes underneath it i assume it's a top load ..if it's a front load remove dispenser completely clean it and inside of housing also ck the line into the tub just above door opening than can become plugged especially with dry detergent
