My Nuvi 300/350 will not load maps and display. It was working fine yestday, stopped to eat as we were traveling and when we got back in the car it would not come back on.

If your garmin nuvi wont stop loading maps, then you need to reaet the unit to get it to work perfectly fine once again. Try to hold down the power button for about 15 seconds and the gps receiver will restart, this time it will load normally and show you your maps.
If that does not solve the problem, then you need to back up your maps then format your gps receiver from a computer then restore the software and maps back on, that should do the job for you.

The problem is that the nuvi 660 gps receiver is jammed and needs to be reformatted. What you have to do is to disconnect the gps, and connect it to a computer, then format it.
After formatting it, you download the self extracting archive files for your nuvi on to your hard drive, then connect your nuvi to a free USB port on your PC interface cable and allow your nuvi to initialize and enter USB mode, Unzip the files by running the downloaded executable files, then follow the instruction provided by the launched update application on your PC.
Then install it back in your car and turn it on, it will work once again.
