My picture goes out but the sound is still there. Sometimes I can see a very faint shadow of a picture but that's about it. I'll turn off the TV, wait a few minutes and turn it back on. It's ok for a minute or so and then it starts all over again. Sometimes I can go for days without a problem and then it starts again.
I just had the same problem. I've had the LC-32D40U for about a year and this is the first time it happens. When turning on, the "Please Wait" notice comes up, but then it goes completely black and I don't get any picture or sound at all.
I called Sharp. They asked for the date of purchase (1 year for parts, 90 day for labor), and gave me a Case Number in case I have to send it in for repair.
No solution though.

Sharp didn't help me in the least other than referring me to an authorized service provider who will charge me an initial fee of $85 just to pick up my TV. God only knows what additional cost I'll pay after the problem has been diagnosed.
Exactly the same problem, where do I see the solution? Cindy
My Sharp LC32D40U has sound, but no picture. Has occurred several times before, but usually corrected itself in a short time. No such luck as of now. Sound is OK. Have tried unplugging unit in hopes it would reset.
Picture goes black and comes back on after a few minutes. Has done this months ago, and now has done it two days in a row! Bad things to come?
there is no picture but the still there...can you tell about the best solution.
Same problem. Has happened sporadically over the course of the year. Always comes back. I am still under my warranty. I guess I'll have to make some calls
Similar Problem. TV turns on, get input info in upper right corner, then the screen goes black blank. Sound remains. If I turn it off then on, same thing. If I unplug it and leave it off for a long time it will work when plugged back in. Don't know how long is sufficient, at least 15 minutes but no more than overnight.
Sharp LC-32D40U 15 months old and now has gone from the occasional (once or twice a month had an outage of picture but sound worked) to 15 to 20 minutes of working then outage of picture until reset.
Same problem - volume stays on but the picture goes black - like a screensaver. Turning on and off fixes it more than half the time. If not, usually it will work after unplugging the power cord (from the TV) for any perdiod of time (10-seconds or more). Still no recalls yet?
