Samsung model no. LN 32A33OJ1D code. LN32A33OJ1DXZA wont turn on for nothing and someone try to charge me $500.00 to fix it need help !!

If I am corrct, It may just need a set of caps in the power supply, about $15 worth and may be 45 minutes of time,
see pictures here; http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/SAMSUNG/Samsung%20LN32A330/

Sounds like someone is ripping you off or never works on repairing TV before, jhe ust gives you high estimate and charge you alot just for the estimate alone. That kind of repair shop gives all repair shops bad name.

I get a black screen. i still have sound with no picture

Hello; If this is a 32" LCD, it is probably the same model in my older post. Always give your model number , so we know which set you have. John

Hello; This set uses a very poor design. They are stacking two 450 volt cap to get a 900 volt rating needed in this circuit. This practice was used decades ago, but only with VERY high quality caps that are closely matched ALONG with stabilization resistors to keep the voltage drop even between the 2 caps. Polaroid uses cheap unmatched caps and even WORSE no stabilization resistors. Shame on you Polariod. At least one cap is bad, but they MUST both be replaced with high quality MATCHED caps. There is an 80% chance that these are your problem, but with NO WARANTY. If you have no way of soldering and testing, send it to me with $38 to cover parts, testing caps and return shipping. You must call first 207 998 5687 est. No weekend hours, but OK 9-5 est. Good luck, John

I have a lg televison model # 42lg30-ua, i have sound but no picture, can you give me any suggestions?

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors. Many electronics companies were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$???????

2. Open your TV and find PSB. Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found at tv-part.com but supplies are limited.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

I have a tip/tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. It's called: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm working on uploading pictures to help guide people though the process as well. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Hope this helps and Good luck.

Tv cycles on and off repeatedly while plugged in.

Samsung caps
http://www.avforums.com/forums/attachments/lcd-televisions/128595d1247354171-samsung-40-lcd-one-year-old-beyond-repair-caps.jpg

Above should be a link to a picture of the caps if not google " Samsung power supply caps" and look for other images.
Hope this helps

Once the back cover is removed the caps are obvious to spot (especially with that picture I forwarded) you need to label and remove all the plugs - unscrew the board from the chassis so you can get to the solder side of the board.
Once there all that is required is to observe how the caps are placed in - and + side of caps and unsolder the old caps 10V 1000Uf and replace with new ones of higher value 16V 1000Uf

If your feeling adventurous do it yourself otherwise get quote from a reputable shop.

Also google "Samsung power supply capacitor replacement" and there may be step-by-step instructions with pix.

TV no longer comes on, blue light appears but no picture.

I fixed my problem for $3.44 at Radio Shack.
This is a common problem with this model.. go to you tube and search for polaroid 37 lcd repair, there is a video showing which Capacitors to replace. there are two, i bought 2 1000uF 35 watt/volt capacitors. you have to take the back panel of the TV off, remove the power supply board, and de-solder the two CAPS. install the two new CAPS, re-solder them, put the TV back together and enjoy. Radio Shack part #'s i used 272-1032.
