Casio tonebank ct700 no sound from chords only whilest on fingered chord please advise

It sounds like you've pre-programmed a certain sound that is usually only triggered by multiple keys into one key. The most efficient way to return to the way that you're searching for might be to perform a factory reset on your device. But you should back up any data into a USB stick before you perform the reset as all data in the Casio device will be reset.

Sounds like a lack of power from the external "wall wart" power supply. Is it the correct one that can supply enough current for a chord to be played? (a chord will play more notes at the same time & pull more power from the supply in order to make the sound(s)) If it's the correct power supply or one of the correct current rating check the cable & the connector both at the end of the cable & where it plugs into the keyboard. Perhaps the lead has been tugged accidentally? / Damaged in some way? Turn the volume down a little & see if that helps - that will confirm the power theory :-) Good Luck!

Single and Finger,is chords mode.
In Single,by press one key (eg:A) then chords A is heard,and so on.
In Finger,you must press 3 keys.Example: G-B-D,then you heard G chord. D-F#-A is D chord.
In Finger,lets say you press A chord and want to change to C chord by press one key C only,there's nothing change untill you press C-E-G.
Low, is for chords octave low.
Chords Off,no chords can be play,it mean overall full piano mode..
Single,Finger,Low, can be activate with Sync Start button.

Don't be confused by the video. The guy is capo'd up a whole key, so his fingered G actually is the A shown on the chorded lyric sheet.

Read your manual regarding "fingered chords" and similar subjects. It sounds like you are in a single fingered chord mode...

I would check your fingering... You MAY be late in hitting a particular note and the using auto chord... this can cause the problem. Another thing is if notes are hit with different velocity that can affect the sound. Sometimes certain voices have VELOCITY switching which actually changes the voice depending on the velocity you hit a note.

If you can find the C-below-middle-C ?

Put your small finger on C,
your next finger on the next white key: D,
your middle finger on the next white key: E
your index finger on the next white key: F
your thumb on the next white key: G

Lift your fingers away from D and F -- to keep this simple -- all we did was identify the D and E and F and G keys, relative to the C key.

Press C and E and G (small, middle, thumb)
to play a "major" chord in C.

Move your fingers "up":
C to D, E to F-sharp, G to A,
and play a "major" chord in D.

Move your fingers "up":
D to D-sharp, F-sharp to G, and A to A-sharp,
and play the chord in D-sharp (usually called 'E-flat').

Move your fingers "up":
D-sharp to F, G to A, and A-sharp to C,
and play the chord in F.

Move your fingers "up",
F to G, A to B, and C to D,
and play the chord in G.

Go back to the starting position (C-E-G),
and move "down": C to B-flat, E to D, and G to F,
and play the chord in B-flat.

So far, you have C-major, D-major, E-flat-major, F-major, G-major, and B-flat-major.

There are more chords, but most pop-music is in one of these keys.

Give it a try.

A lot of left-hand stuff is just the small-finger and thumb, omitting the middle finger, e.g., C&G,
to avoid a too "muddy" sound.

Or, "stretch" your hand: C-and-G-and-the-next-higher-C.

OK... It wasn't clear from the original.

Sometimes the keyboard has a mode that splits for upper and lower part of the keyboard, usually splitting at the F#/G. Also CERTAIN voices will ONLY sound one note at a time. Piano setting would not have this problem of course.

When you play a single note does that sound? If it doesn't in the fingered mode, then there may be a processor problem in the unit/

If it does, there is probably a problem in the matrix that scans the keyboard electrically. If one of the keys were ELECTRICALLY stuck on, the processor within could not read whole sections of the keyboard.

To troubleshoot the problem, press exactly one key at a time... do they all work for say a piano voice while in the fingered mode.

Next press a key at the high end of the keyboard and try others. See if you can find an octave that fails to work.

The problem is likely imbedded in the electronics and could be anything from a dirty key contact to a cracked circuit board. It is NOT likely you can fix this yourself unless you are experienced in electronics.

NORMALLY "fingered" mode means that you have to "finger" the chord, that is, play all the notes of the chord. It sounds like it IS working as designed.

In Casio Chord mode, the bottom keys up to the second F plays Bass Chords. The Keyboard is just putting the keys you play back into bass when you get up that high. If you read along the plastic edge above where they keys come out of the keyboard, it shows you where the Chord keys end and the Keyboard begins. If you want use of all the Octaves, slide the power switch to the first setting (normal).
