After a power surge, a specific folder on my 320gb seagate external drive showed nothing but 0 byte folders. The folder structure is still there, but there are 0 files in it (including subfolder). any hope I can recover the files? :(
thanks in advance!
You may use data recovery software to see if you can rescue the files on your external HD.
It may unable to recover all the files, but at least most of them.
Do you have a data backup?
According to your description, your drive
may be damaged by the suddenly power surge. So, you can try to use a drive data
recovery freeware that has ever successfully restore all the inaccessible data
of my friend back from his logically damaged drive:

I remember it has offered four different data
recovery options for the user to process almost all data recovery problems,
including your damaged drive data recovery problems. So, if you are interested,
you can read more detailed information of this free drive data recovery program
here:

In case of similar data recovery problems, I
hope you can learn a lesson to back up everything important at least on two different
drives in the future.
