Sony ericsson w995 saying orignal battery is needed to charge

Try pulling the sim card and scraping the contact points with a razor edge then reinsert the sim.

The battery most likely needs to be replaced.

from the specifications you have provided it is clear that you are having both software as well as a hardware problem .first of all go for a software update of your phone. then go for a hardware check up. probably your phone is unable to recognise its own battery.

This is a device issue. You will need to contact your service provider for replacement options!

did you hit your phone?
try making 'Master Reset' (settings->master reset).if this doesn't work try flashing phone's firmware

its may well be the connectors are damaged or that it is a software fault due to there being glitches on the software as i have discovered or it may well be a faulty battery, i would reccomend trying another battery and charger if that fails, try cleaning the battery with unflavoured alcahol with a cotten bud and drying it thorougly afterwards if that fails re flash it

it sounds as if there is a glitch in the software. it needs to be software updated. try and get it generic software put in it. Take it to a repair centre.

Hi mate i had same problem this morning, i was gutted cos i got mine off ebay, so have no guarantee, however i went to se site and updated the softwear, even that there was no update, it re-installed the softwear and wala its working fine, am i ha happy bunny. Hope it works for you? Meurig

OK i have just fixed my W995 that also came up with No network coverage out of the blue. Also when i went to charge it it said i needed a SE battery.

All this problem is, software. Yes simply all your phone needs is a software update. Sony Ericsson are known for disconnecting peoples phones if they do not have the latest software.
