AC means "air conditioning." If the AC icon is showing on your thermostat it means that your air conditioning is activated and should come on when the temperature threshold you've set on the thermostat is reached.
For example, if you've set the temperature level to 78 degrees, when the house temperature goes above 78, usually by about two degrees, the air conditioner should cycle on to cool it back down to 78 degrees at which point it will then turn off.
This information should be in your air conditioning/heating system or thermostat owners manual. If you don't have the manual, you should contact your air conditioning dealer or your builder to secure a replacement. The manual is essential for proper operation and maintenance of your system.

Was told to pull batt. and change ends with them , letthem stay reversed for 5-10 sec. then put them back in right order, and replace thermostat. No success!
Anyone have any answers
it sounds like it is time to repalce the stat, auto is set to allow the fan to run only when the heat or a/c is on, the switch for heat and cool will select either, and the temperature lever should allow contact for the bulbs to bring on the desired component. there are no replaceable parts on a thermostat, or I would try to walk you through replaceing them. good luck.. I prefer the honeywell vision pro or the white rodgers 9500 series stats
rh and rc should have a jumper between them.connect red to either.y=yellow g=green w=white and do not use the blue.your new stat will run on batteries.
