You may need to reset the SMC. Unplug all cables from your iMac including the keyboard, mouse, power cable, DSL, everything. Wait at least 5 minutes. Now plug the power cord in making sure not to be pressing the power button at the same time. Connect all cables and press the power button and start your iMac. If you still hear the noise then take it in for service.
I held down the command key while turning the mac off and when turning it back on, worked a treat. (and service is $$$$ and I have had this problem before) saved with hold of a button!!!

I think its best you replace the fan, its probably at the end of its life and starting to make more and more noise. This happens alot in computers if the fans are poor quality.
Yes, the fan can be definitely be replaced. You can actually get a replacement fan for your computer at The Laptop Fan Shop online for about $22. The process of changing a fan is quite simple, so you should be able to do it yourself to save on labor. Although, if your computer is still under warranty you should contact dell directly at 1-877-694-3591 to see if they can replace it for you for free.
Time for a new fan, also you should try and get as much air flow underneath as possible.. have you tried those laptop coolers that the laptop sits into.. Clean any opening out of dust too.
Hi:
Not sure of a user cause for the fan to run full speed, unless you are using the laptop in a high heat environment, or setting it on a bed or other area where it is not getting adequet cooling air. If it does it right away, when you turn it on , cold, then there might be a laptop hardware problem. If you leave your laptop on all the time, then you might be inducing the problem. I had a HP high performance laptop, that the fans would not turn on at all till it ran an hour or so, then they would stay on loud for 10 or 15 minutes, then shut off, then cycle.
hmm, it's very possible that the new fan is unable to spin fast enough to draw enough heat away fast enough. I'm guessing that this a separate video card and not the onboard video of the motherboard? and, is it the video card fan that is making all the noise?
You have the fan problem. Full the refrigerator out and open the lower back cover you will see you fan is almost become bad. If you apply WD1040 oil you can use it about 3 more months. Then It will die out. I think you better change it now or later on you refrigerator become hot and hotter. If you are careless, you can get burn you skin. I had this problem. Frist, the fan made noise on and off. I applied oil into the motor. It was working about 3 months then I died out. The front end of refrigerator become a heater.
Go to online partstore.com and buy a fan with your fan model.
