I want to connect my Dell inspiron 1525 laptop (basic vista)to HP 7550 printer. What type of usb cord do I need, and are drivers available online?

Yes it is driver issues. I would go to epson manufacturor website and download the driver for windows vista. That was one of the problem with windows vista.

If your laptop is still under warranty, installing WinXP will void the warranty. It's very tricky. I'd suggest getting another PC with Internet connection and search and download drivers as needed for your 1525. Good luck.

Download the most up to date drivers for your printer. You can find these drivers at the manufacturer's website (i.e. www.hp.com for HP printers) by typing in your model number. Once you have these updated drivers, uninstall the printer and reinstall with the new drivers.

Go to the Control Panel (Start button, then select Control Panel)
Select Printers icon
Right-Click on your printer and select Delete

How you re-install your printer depends on the type of file you downloaded. Some manufacturers provide an installation package that handles the installation for you. If this is the case, simply double-click on the file you downloaded and follow the prompts. If not, select "Add Printer" in the printers window and follow the prompts. When it asks for drivers, select "Have Disk" and point to the folder where you downloaded the drivers to.

Follow this simple Installation step to downgrade Windows Vista to Windows XP.

goto the dell website , and locate drivers for your laptop .. i have looked but only vista and xp are available , however
u could use the XP drivers ..

If you previously were using a parallel connection for the G85 you will need a USB cable.

If your laptop is running Vista the G85 will work as a printer, I do not think there is a scanner driver for Vista for the G85. The G85 print driver is built into VIsta, you only need to turn on the printer and install the USB to have the printer automatically installed.

Dear Sir, Have Dell laptop Inspiron 1525 with Vista loaded....but I need Win XP-2 OS on it...CD of which I have but don't have the laptop drivers compatible with XP. Can you pls guide me how & where to find these drivers....Dell does'nt have those drivers anymore (outdated) Pls...

I would try removing your current driver and then downloading the latest driver from www.hp.com . Make sure you select the current version of Vista.
