The D40 does not have a wireless trigger like some of the other Nikons. However, most studio flash units have a mode which will trigger off of the camera flash just by sensing the light from the flash unit. You could also put the remote cable that comes with the studio light on the hot shoe of the D40. I found the KF-150 studio light for sale, but I can't find any manual or technical specs on it. You need to make sure the unit doesn't have a trigger voltage that's too high for the D40, but if it's for sale now it likely is okay. Just look at the manual for the light and the D40 can compare the external flash trigger specs.

Sca 346/2AF M don't recognized on Nikon D40 like TTL

Film Cameras were NIKON TTL Nikon Digital Cameras are I-TTL. These two systems are not compatible. Film cameras did the metering in real time. When enough light struck the film the flash was turned off. With I-TTL the flash fires a quick flash and the image is quickly analyzed and the flash fires again to take the photo. With digital it is delayed and it is NOT in real time. The camera only looks at a few pixels to make the analysis fast. I hope this helps

Walmart stores still sell that camera. see: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Nikon-D40-Slr-Camera-Kit/5607412
You can also purchase it at Amazon on line. at: http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=d40+camera&tag=googhydr-20&index=aps&hvadid=4645848837&ref=pd_sl_6lzr40qz09_e

Nikon D40 Not focusing, then not shooting

What lens do you have mounted?
The kit lens is generaly made from plastic, and if dropped or hit, the focusing part may break. Therefore it's a lens problem. You need to get it to a specialist to fix it. I own a D40 with kit lens for 2 years now and did not have such problems with it.

Lens error with my Nikon D40 camera

Remove lens, clean contacts, reattach lens. Now give it a little wiggle to seat the contacts. Does that help?
