When I turn on the right front burner, the left front burner ignites. There is gas coming from the right burner, but the only way it will light is to put a match to it. My question is how would turning on the right burner cause the left burner to ignite?

Sometimes the igniter point gets dirty due to food or grease and it will not make a spark check the point.
Another issue I've found is that the distance between the point and the burner has changed either by something falling on it or so. This causes the point to not create an arc.
The best way to find out what's happening is to observe the point to see if an arc is visible.
Good luck

Probably needs the ignitor replaced. http://www.handymanwire.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/408747/an/0/page/332
