Igniter clicks on the wrong burner

When I turn on the right front burner, the left front burner ignites. There is gas coming from the right burner, but the only way it will light is to put a match to it. My question is how would turning on the right burner cause the left burner to ignite?

The spark supposes to go to all burners. The spark igniter of the non working burner needs to be replaced.

Sometimes the igniter point gets dirty due to food or grease and it will not make a spark check the point. Another issue I've found is that the distance between the point and the burner has changed either by something falling on it or so. This causes the point to not create an arc.
The best way to find out what's happening is to observe the point to see if an arc is visible.
Good luck

Jenn-Aire Model CVG4380 gas stove top. Why doesn't igniter work?

Hi,

Under your knobs are burner switches, 3 of them are the same, so this will be a hit and miss on getting them but possible. Each burner should trigger the ignition system. This will be needed to be inspected to find out which one needs to be replace. If you get the right person to look over the unit they could tell you if it can be repaired. I worked on one about 3 years ago and it worked out fine. Good Luck and I hope this helped.

The left igniter on my SC8720ED cooktop does not work

you can use a needle or a toothpick to clean the holes where the gas comes out it sounds like they are clogged. it works in most cases. if the clog isn't right there you may need to dig into the system a little deeper

Trouble with front burners: Right burner sparks but does not light Left burner does not apper to spark, but lights If you turn on both bruners they some times light???

The igniters for the burners are all on one circuit so when you turn the burner to light the switch inside the burner valve will cause all burner igniters to come on. As far as the left burner not sparking it could be due to a bad igniter switch in the valve and when you turn on the right burner you are causing all(including the left one) to spark. You will need to make sure that the burner eyes are clear and not plugged. You can use a sewing needle to clear out the eyes. The small eyes at the igniter electrodes are very important because if they are clogged the burner will not light.

The igniter on the right front burner of my GE Gas cooktop does not work....I must use a lighter or match to ignite....What can I do? There is no clicking sound when I turn on the burner?

all burner igniters work at the same time - you may have a faulty electronic spark unit. change the spark unit. go to repair clinic dot come for the unit. also would be wise to check the ingniter start switch on the gas burner control knob

I would try cleaning the burners. You can purchase cleaning brushes made specifically for this purpose and they work like a charm.

Stove burner igniter does not work.

Your problem is not the igniter itself, but the burner switch that controls the igniter. All the igniters get their power from one spark module that is mounted somewhere in back of the oven. That's why you are able to get all the igniters to spark with only one burner control turned on. This is normal. That is also why you are able to light the burner in question buy turning on another burner. The spark is being provided by a switch that is working. To answer your question: the igniter is removable, but I don't think it's necessary. Cleaning them generally doesn't make them work better. I would check the wiring from the spark module to the burner switch and/or replace the switch. I hope this helps.
