The spark Plug Gap is 0.030. Any original or aftermarket spark plug for this unit is pre-set to 0.030. Unless you dropped the replacement plug it should be fine. All Ryobi engines 2 and 4 cycle have a 0.030 spark plug gap.

Check the fuel/oil mix ratio you are using. Some Ryobis use a 32:1 mix and some use a 40:1 mix. There isn't much difference there. To be on the safe side, if you machine is possibly running or tuned a little "lean" I would start off with about 4 oz/gallon oil to gas mix. Use synthetic 2-stroke oil also. Your machine will perform much better.
The gap for the Weed Eater 20cc engine can be set @ .025". The larger engine Ryobi 31cc/32cc class can be set @ .030" Either engine would operate within that .005" range and I know a 32cc Poulan calls for a .030" gap.
hve you checked the HT lead and the on/off switch i had the same model as this and i changed everthing but in the end t chucked the thing away and got a sthil modle
If the spark plug is very wet, place the base of the plug against a
metal part of the motor, with the sparkplug wire attached to the plug,
and pull the starter rope, looking to make sure that the plug has a
spark. If it doesn't, that is the problem and it may be that the
breaker point gap has to be adjusted or the capacitor (condenser) has
gone bad. It is not easy for folks with the typical tools of a
homeowner to fix either of these problems, but it can be done. If the
spark is good, pull the starter about ten times with the plug out to
clear out the excess gas, dry out the plug and put it back in, then try to start it.
Too much gas on the plug could indicate that you are pressing the
primer bulb too many times or that the fuel adjustment is set too rich.
