My Whirlpool Ultimate Care II top load washer won't finish the cycle. It just stops. I can get it to restart by turning the dial, but just washes for about 5 minutes and then stops. It won't drain, rinse, or spin. I need help!

bad lid switch,open the lid a few inches and close it down,if you do this a few times and don't hear a clicking sound the switch is bad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZAbg9uftos
The lid switch is the culprit. Push down on the lid it should start. It needs to be adjusted . the tab on the lid is not activating the switch. Try triming the door bumpers.
probaly a good wash with chlorine bleach..fill tub with hot water pour 2-3 cups bleach let agitate for few mins stop machine and let set 20-30 mins restart and let finish cycle ..to head of future problem leave lid open between uses
