Specs for my laptop are T2300 @ 1.66 Ghz, 981 MHz, 1.49 GB of Ram....why is it too slow?; I was expecting it to run faster after I upgraded RAM memory... The hard disk capacity is 60GB and out of it, 32GB is free. I noted its been slow after upgrading its memory. Kindly assist. Macharia
Nx6310 (now obsolete ,zero HP support on this) 12 years old.
in dog years that is 84 years.
all that and no OS stated is this DEAD XP" the virus magnet?
if yes, all XP are infected and slow, I'd bet you that !
It came with XP if not XP say how it got changed, using what.?
well , in my opinion all PC are slow. it is a relative term
compared to what? or when? 12 years ago?\
and doing what, that actions you do , seem slow. 100000 possible on all computers. endless apps or the OS it self just slow.
lucky you the CCFL screen back lamps are not dead as most are after even 5 years much less 12. a real shock that is.
Slow 101:
12 year old computers are slow, all are that old , (progress = speed)
12 year old XP is now infected. most are, and zero support from HP nor MS.
The HDD is slow, if not upgraded to SSD all HDD are slow and pathetic, try a new SSD and see the one thing that can make any PC go vastly faster, SSD, spend $100.
the HDD is fragmented run defrag now.
the OS is corrupted, as all are this old. (see virus and malware )
best is to retire it, get PC that is 2007 year or newer.
with w7 or newer.
and win, and have future.
do not invest cash in this junk PC for at least the reason of CCLF
if those die as they surely will , the cost to fix it as huge.
Id have never attempted to up grade any NX PC
none on the HP official retired list
SOURCE: Can i upgrade my Ram and hard disk in my HP pAvilion dv4000?
according to the specs you can install up to 2 gb of memory and the manual states that a 100 gb hard drive was an option. not sure if you can go higher then that.
