Can be fixed in less than one week and cost is less than $80. See web site for Timelywatch repar.com. They guarantee their work. And yes, the old capacitors are only good for 3-4 years. All replacements are now with a much better, long lasting Lithium Ion battery.

Where can I find a review or description of seiko men’s 5N0313 dive watch ? I can’t find any

Seiko 5N0313 refers to the movement fitted inside the watch - it's not the model number of your particular watch.
Go to

where there should be enough info' to allow you to determine the model number, then do a search based on that number.

Warning about Seiko Kinetic batteries and capacitors

I frequently am sent Seiko Kinetics and the User says "this watch stopped and I tried to put a capacitor in it but it still didn't work. I know the capacitor was good because it was new and I checked it with a battery checker."
A Seiko Capacitor (battery) must NEVER be checked with a battery charge measuring device of any kind. The inexpensive battery checkers that are sold on eBay or Amazon will deplete a capacitor immediately and fully. And when the "new" capacitor is placed into the watch the watch will not run. It cannot run because it has not power to run because it has a depleted capacitor. And that capacitor will NOT recharge. The battery/capacitor is DOA. Dead. DNR.
##### (Another frequent mistake is to use metal tweezers when installing the capacitor instead of plastic tweezers. Or making contact with either the + pole or the negative pole. Or not correctly installing the mylar insulator in EXACTLY the same position it was when the battery was removed. It is tricky, and it trips up a lot of battery replacement attempts.
And occasionally I receive a watch that the User installed the battery upside down. A Seiko capacitor does not go into the battery well like most watches; it goes in "upside down", with the Positive side DOWN, and the negative side facing you when it is in the well.
But the most common reason a new capacitor placement does not make the Seiko Kinetic run is that when the rotor assembly was removed the User pressed down, even the slightest bit, when removing the screw that holds the rotor. That downward pressure pushes the second hand into the watch crystal, and it is now simply a dead watch.
The slot in the Rotor screw is the thinnest slot I have ever encountered, and I have several expensive screwdrivers that are truly precision.
But I have to use a whetstone to carefully grind down a precision screwdriver to an razor thin tip, before I can safely remove that Rotor screw.
I often break a single edge razor in half, and just use the razor blade, because
it is thin enough enter into the slot of the screw.

I do not know how to wind up my watch, while a swing to a later no.Please answer me.Model hours a Seiko Kinetic 5M62-0B40.Thank you

This watch operates on a capacitor which is charged by movement. It does not wind, but it has a weight that charges the capacitor by motion.

Take the watch in hand by placing your fingers under the caseback and your thumb on the crystal. Use a horizontal motion (landscape) to move the watch back and forth quickly approximately one foot left and right. You should feel the internal weight move.

Do this for at least five minutes. If the watch does not start to operate (the second hand does not move at one second increments) then either the capacitor must be replaced, or the movement is defective.

You may send the watch directly to Seiko for service, or I would strongly suggest visiting your local Certified Master Horologist for what is usually a free assessment and estimate of the repair.

If you are following the above directions, you have done nothing wrong, but the movement or capacitor needs to be replaced.

If you have just purchased this watch and the instructions do not resolve your situation, I would promptly return it and exchange it, as the model may have been sitting for a while, and have a bad capacitor.

My seiko is keeping good time but the second hand jumps two seconds then hesitates for what seems to be a second then skips two seconds again

There are three solutions for this problem, contingent upon the model:

With both instances, this is a power saving / low charge / low battery feature of the timepiece.

1) Is your Seiko watch a Kinetic / Solar model? If so, your watch contains a capacitor. The capacitor may be bad, OR if you have not been wearing it on as regular a basis, wind the watch (Kinetic) vigorously for 5 minutes, and if the second hand returns to normal function, the capacitor is most likely fine. If is is a Solar model, expose it to sunlight for 4-6 hours or incandescent light for 24 hours and see if this resolves the problem.

2) Else: if this is a standard battery operated watch, take your watch to an authorized Seiko repair center, or Certified Master Horologist. Make sure that the Seiko Repair Center is using Seiko batteries, else make sure they are installing Energizer only - these two batteries will not leak in your movement. Avoid other batteries at all cost, many of them will leak and ruin your movement.

3). If these solutions do not work, and you have not had your watch serviced in the last 3 to 5 years, you need to service the movement. See the aforementioned parties to begin the process.

4) If your watch is water resistant, and/or you plan on wearing it in the water, make sure to have your watch water tested by the appropriate aforementioned professional to ensure it will withstand proper dynamic and static pressure at the appropriate depths.

Hi there, can you look on the back of the watch for the model number. It should be similar to 7T62-0AC0 - I can then tell you which battery you require -

My watch runs too fast: adds appr. 1 minute every 24 hours

That is way too fast for a Seiko Kinetic. There is no adjustment to slow it down. With time of course it might run slower as the gears get dirty. Maybe Seiko will replace the movement, worth asking

Watch will not stay running

Most likely time to replace the capacitor with a new Lithium Ion battery. This is the correct way to fix this problem. No one uses the old capacitors any more. I do this repair daily as a Certified Master Horologist/watch repair man. Ron at TimelyWatchRepair.com
