TV PICTURE GOES OUT AND THEN SHUTS OFF

THE TV IS A SHARP AQUOS LC52D64U
WHEN UNIT IS ON FOR A WHILE (VARYING TIMES) THE SCREEN JUST GOES BLANK AND THE POWER LIGHT-AUDIO REMAINS ON-STARTS BLINKING THE PICTURE WILL FLASH 2/3 TIMES FIRST. THE TV WILL NOT TURN ON FULLY UNTILL AFTER I LET IT COOL DOWN FOR AWHILE. WHEN I TRY TO TURN IT ON THE POWER LIGHT FLASHES AND THE PICTURE FLASHES WHILE THE SOUND STAYS ON AND THEN THE WHOLE THING SHUTS OFF. AFTER BEING LEFT OFF FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES TV CAME BACK ON THIS PAST TIME IT HAPPENED AFTER BEING ON FOR 45 MINUTES BUT IT HAS HAPPENED BEFORE AND IT WAS ON FOR ABOUT 4 HOURS BEFORE IT TURNED OFF.

THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE BEING CONNECTED TO THREE DIFFERENT DEVICES(XBOX360 HDMI, CABLE BOX - COMPONENT, AND DVD PLAYER - COMPOSITE) SO IT IS NOT THE INPUT DEVICE OR THE PORT.

Sounds like dodgy buffer board or video pcb

    can't you explain in details that humans can comprehend? What does "dodgy" mean? do I need to buy both boards? any way to tell which one it is? Very lame "best solution"

if a power surge shut down the unit than a circuit, capacitor or fuse is blown and or burnt and you wont smell that most of the time and since it does have power fuse wasnt blown so a circuit -diode-capacitor is fried somewhere problem is common for an electricial damaged tv but to diagnose an electronic tech would need to tear it apart

when it goes black then check with flashlight 2 in from screen and see if you see a picture, if so then inverter board is going out, you can google your model and inverter and find the replacement.
