How do you calibrate the scanner bulb? I get a "Check SPF/RSPF" error message when trying to scan a document through the auto-feed tray and a local service company said that the scanner bulb needs to be calibrated. Any ideas?

The Calibration of the scanner and calibration of the monitor - a complex process. Prcess requiring special equipment and experienced specialist. Not advantageously buy high-priced equipment for Calibration of its one scanner and monitor. If work high skilled, you it is necessary to return in service for calibration if you want this execute themselves, recommend to build apart monitor on test list, but then on test table by means of regulations adjusting the scanner on colour and density of the scene to build scanner

Tray lifts to meet the rollers then drops back down. Error message 'No page was found in the feeder'

Clean the 'black dot' in the centre of the paper tray. There is an optical sensor under that. The tray will lift even without paper, but will go back immediately.
If the scanner stops after 3 pages, check disk space in your computer. If you are scanning in TIFF uncompressed, it takes lot of space. For color and Grey try JPG format, for mono TIFF G4 is the ideal option.

Message CHECK SPF/RSPF and will stick on scan often.

In the Jaguar series, (ar-168d) you will need to get into the simulations; press in rapid succession: # * C * You will know when you did it fast enough when all the display lights go out except the number display, press 41 start/copy. then 6 start/copy. Let the copier do what it needs to.

The scanner will move, keep the lid down, it will let you know when it is done when it goes silent. Then press CA key to clear out and try copies again.

Problems with SPF message and black copies

The "Check SPF/RSPF" issue can be a couple of things
  1. If the scanner only moves from right to left then immediately moves back then the copier needs to be adjusted.
  2. If the scanner moves from right to left and tries to feed then displays message then the ADF needs to be cleaned.
Same for the dark issues
  1. If you lighten the exposure and the copies come out better then copier needs to be adjusted
  2. If you lighten the exposure and the copies come out the same then you may have a few problems check the following;
  • Open right side door and look at drum green/blue cylinder . If it is covered with toner (black film) then you might have a drum short.
  • Open right side door and look at drum, if it is not covered then you may have a board issue.
While making a copy off the glass listen to the right side of the copier and if you can hear a screeching sound then you could be having an electrical short that is causing your black copies.

Depending on your findings depends on the remedies.

Resetting PaperPort after paper jam

I found the solution to this problem. Whenever the paper jammed in the feed tray, I was pulling the jammed paper out without opening the door of the feed tray. Apparently, PaperPort gets confused and does not know how to proceed. Now when I get a paper jam, I open the door of the feed tray, take out the paper, click on the paper jam error message in PaperPort, reset the paper in the feed tray, and then hit "scan." Works like a charm.

Error Message: Check SPF/RSPF START to Resume

I just fixed this problem on my sharp all in one. The white rollers on the underside of the copier cover were not rolling well. I took an alcohol prep pad and started cleaning them, rolling as I went. A large piece of lint fell out. I put the documents in the document feeder and they fed through like a charm. Hope this helps.
