The screen was different than the picture of the one you sent. What is checked is---Microphone 3- USB Auto device working.

Hi,

If there are more than recording device, then you have to select default recording device as you MIC connected to coresponding sound card..

For eg, if your MIC is connected to front panel and if the REAR IN is selected as a default device you wont able to record sound in Windows Vista..

To select default recording device

  1. Select your sound properties through the control panel or the sound icon in your system tray.
  2. Click on the properties tab,Check the recording box.
  3. Make sure you have selected the default device upon mutiple device

If USB device is selected, then the device you had selected is correct..

The next solution is testing the recording software works perfectly, If you were using the Sound recorder, test whether you get waves while recording,

If you use some other software check whether you select the default Recoding source is USB MIC in the software

And also as i said previously, check whetherr the MIC volume is set to full,Even this may cause for your issue

Please leave me comment, if you still need furthur assistance

to be generic try with Windows Sound recorder first

    START->ALL PROGRAMS->ACCESSORIES->SOUND RECORDER

And try recording using this, if you still see some waves during recording..THere is no isse with MIC and you have to change some settings in sound blaster wave studio..

Because Sound blaster works mostly for its native sound blaster card...

Try recording sound recorder and leave me comments,if you need furthur assistance

Think the format you were trying to play was not recognized by Windows media plyer

Or of your format of bit rate is high, it cant be player

Try donloading klm mega codec pack from the below link and try playing after that

    http://www.free-codecs.com/download/k_li...

ELse, try recording by reducing the BIT RATE

Does it gets recorded through sound recorder

My logitech desktop mic is not working. I have Vista.

Check the sound setup in Windows, could be your default recording device is not configured properly.
Here is an article on Windows Vista, but most applies similarly to Windows 7 and even XP.

Logitech quick cam communicate stx on Vista - microphone not working

Why isn't the microphone on my camera working?
trnsp.gif Answer The microphone may not work because of a hardware or configuration problem. To determine if it's a hardware problem, test the microphone in Sound Recorder.

  1. Click "Start," > "Programs" ("All Programs" for Windows XP) > "Accessories" > "Entertainment" > "Sound Recorder."
  2. Click the Record button and speak into the microphone of the camera. You should see the green line move, indicating the application is picking up sound.
  3. Click the Stop button.

    1. Click "Edit," then "Audio Properties."
    2. Make sure Logitech is listed as the Preferred device for "Sound recording."
The microphone may also be defective. To test this, try the camera on another USB enabled system.
