I know this is an old post, but the LED code for CAPS lock on, F4 flashing, F5 on means memory issue. I had this issue, reseated the memory, and the issue was resolved.

I had the same problem and was able to fixed it by using the other set of wires that connects the display to the wireless adapter (on the bottom of the laptop) ... use the grey and white/grey wires instead of the black and white wires.

Worked for me -- but I had the startup disk in an external drive. When I first switched the wires, came up well -- with notes on an unfinished install, and instructions to restart and reintall. When I tried to start up with the external drive, we were back to the caps lock, F5, and flashing F4. I'm thinking along the lines of a power issue with the draw from the external drive (D/bay PD01S)(which seems to run fine on an older Latitude)..

It might be a screen problem. Try connecting it to an external monitor.

My Hdd is locked on my Dell XT2 I have the password but I cant find where to put in the Password

Restart the computer and tap F2 key during POST to enter System Setup (BIOS). This should prompt for the Hard Drive (HDD) or BIOS password. Knowledge Base

This should help.

While the computer is powering up keep tapping f2.

Turn it off. Press the power button again and keep hitting f2.

I believe the only way to remove it is to contact Dell with your service tag number.

Dell Latitude XT2 sound doesnt work 1/2 of the time. Windows 7.

Download and install the drivers from manufacturer website. If you are unable to recognize the device specific drivers then i would suggest to use the driver scanning tool, it will search for the drivers online and will show a list of of device specific updated drivers.
You can download the driver scanner tool here:

Pen and touchscreen not responding on my Dell Latitude XT2 Tablet PC

Hmmm does the penn have a battery then? I guess something is wrong with the wiring as not just the pen does not work but touching all all not. Stuff should just simply work and not require loads of troubleshooting.

Cursor opening start menu and other applications by itself

Hi there, there are two possibilities here, one, the touch screen is compressed in 1 or more areas of the screen. two, it sounds like your PC has a prank virus in it that is causing unwanted side-effects. Try booting in safe mode on your tablet PC, and run a full virus scan.

How do I enable presentation mode on an XT2 tablet? I am in a meeting connecting a Dell Tablet XT2 to a Panasonic projector via vga cable and trying to use Fn8 to display the laptop screen. The setting...

You could be able to enable presentation mode by pressing the "settings" button on the bootom of your display, next to the power button and the "ctrl" and the rotate button. After you press that, your dell control point manager should pop up and then go to the tablet tab on the left and open it. after that, go to the display tab and you should see an option that allows you to turn your presentation mode on.
