We formerly used a linskys router, How can we change our laptop to Belkin router? We have installed the Belkin router on the desktop. How can we get our laptop to accept this Belkin router?
The short answer is to duplicate the SSID, Encryption Method and Encryption Key that was on the LinkSys router onto the new Belkin Router.
If unable to determine the old settings in the LinkSys Router, start a new wireless network in the Belkin Router by logging into the router with your web browser as directed in the instruction manual or setup disk. It is likely at http:\\192.168.0.1 or http:\\192.168.1.1. On the wireless set up page of the router, create a new SSID and choose an Encryption Method (WPA, WEP, etc.) that is also available in the wireless adapter's setup program. Next, create an Encryption Key on the wireless set up page of the router and put the same key in the wireless adapter. If the laptop's network settings match the Belkin Router settings, you should be able to connect. Put these same settings in all computers and devices that are to connect wirelessly to the Belkin Router.
If you have not changed any settings from belkin router, access the wireless configuration on your windows machine and search for the belkin ssid then hit on connect
