Check engine light

The Engine Check Light only comes on to tell you there is an issue. Then you connect a Code Reader to the OBD Port and look at the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). The Code is a number and tells you the issue, and from there you can Google the Fix.

If the light comes on and goes off, the fault is transient. The ECM checks data multiple times a second, it can flag an issue and then clear it. The only way to find the code is to have a scanner connected as you drive, and read the Code when it appears.

Hard to start because the glow plug circuit is not working. Sounds like the glow plug is defective and the relay is opening and closing. Replace the glow plug.

I think 1st off the battery should be checked for load test. If the battery is not good everything will struggle.

would the catilic converter on a 1992 izusu bighorn would that make the truck loose power at 40kms hour.as the light comes on about then

run the fault codes to find the reason for the engine light and the transmission light

When is the last time a tune up was performed on the vehicle? I would get some amsoil engine foam, and use it as described. Also get some fuel system cleaner and use that as well and go from there.

Find the tensioner. Tensioner is a pully to adjust the tension of the belt. Mostly the Alternator is the tensioner pully. Check it. ok
