Most of the digital cameras come with a software to do that. Firs and the most important thing is to make sure the drivers for you camera are loaded and your camera is recognized by the computer. The rest should be easy, just launch the photo manager program that came with your camera and the rest is easy as following the instructions. If you did not get a software package from the manufacturer you can down load it from the internet.
If you have got a memory stick take it out of your camera and if your computer has a slot for it slot it in. if you don't have a memory card buy one from any local camera shop and put your pictures on it then slot it in to your computer. if your computer doesn't have a slot for the memory card you can buy a USB stick with a memory card slot in it.
once out of the camera & deleted form the card, the camera will not display any of the images because it does not have that function. even jpeg images being the same format cannot be viewed.
it is not the camra but the card . Was down loading photos on to computer , started ok
then stopped and screen reverted to stand by
Put card in camra and showed CARD ERROR. Been told could be faulty card .

If you are using XP you don't need install drivers as the camera will be deetected as a mass storage device when attached to the computer. Then you can cut/copy paste the pics from your camera to your computer. If you are using Windows 98 then you need to install a driver.
Sounds like a corrupt format on the Compact Flash card.
Take the bettery out, then the CF card. Put the battery back in but don't put the CF card in. Switch the camera on and see if you get a different error on the screen. If you get something like 'Missing card' then the camera is OK.
You will probably have to plug the CF card into a PC/Mac via a card reader to see if you can reformat it. If it doesn't work I'm afraid it will need replacing.
