"Media not recognised" Documents to Go error

After transferring (copying) my documents from the SD card to the internal Lifedrive an error is generated on opening Documents to Go.

Trying to open the program from the shortcut gives the following error: "The format of the media was not recognized. (VFS 2A0C)" (this number may be VFS 2AOC?). After this error is accepted (OK) a blank screen remains.

Opening a document directly from the "Files" program (directory listing) works OK.

I have tried reinstalling the Doc 2 Go from the desktop but no change. I have not yet tried deleting and reinstalling Doc 2 Go from the Lifedrive...

Thanks, but this didn't work. Opening Doc 2 Go with the card out gives the error "Database can't open (Dm 0206)"

- Eject the card - Open Document to Go - While still opening the application (in the browser screen), insert the card back to device. The browser will show the card on the top right. - Just close the application as usual. Reopen again, and it should be back to normal.

Im struggling with transfering my Media to SD card my phone is full. The name of the phone is ConeXis X1 from FNB.

I would:
- connect thru USB the phone to a computer
- create a folder in the computer desktop
- find the phone in the computer, find the internal phone memory
- find pictures, videos, music, and document files in the internal phone memory to copy and paste to the folder created in the desktop. This could be one at a time, a few at a time, or a bunch at a time.
- when done finding, copying and pasting to the desktop folder, open the desktop folder, open the files to verify the files open correctly and are not corrupt.
- once files in desktop folder are verified good, delete the original same files from the phone, the ones copied.
- now find the phone external memory, the SD card and copy files from the created folder to where they can be placed.
- all this is done thru the computer
- once done, set up your phone apps so the app stores any new media in the extrernal SD memory to avoid future filling of the internal phone memory.

How do i get pictures off internal memory onto a computer or sd card

Hi, I have the similar s8000fd and I transfer pics from internal memory by taking out the sd card then connect to a spare usb socket on computer, then switch camera on. To transfer pics from internal memory to sd card - leave sd card in, switch on camera (playback mode), press menu, select copy, select 'internal memory to sd card', 'select frame' or 'all frames'. It should say 'copy ok?' Press OK.

Docs and media onto a LifeDrive with Vista

The problem is that the Palm desktop sfotware that works with the LD doesn't work well with vista so you need to do things a bit differently.

I copy files to sdcards if they are say movies or music in otherwords big or lots of files as it is faster. If I want to copy my documents to the ld hardrive simply plug the LD into the usb data cable and then turn on drive mode. Vista will now recognize your ld as just another flash drive or usb drive device. Copy the files to the hardrive or even the sdcard if its in the slot. You can create your own directories in either place so it is easy to know where your files are.

Is palm lifedrive compatible with vista

Yes, you can use it but DO NOT INSTALL "Documents to go". The version of this software is not compatible with Vista and Sync will hang at it.
If you have already installed it, just -> remove programs -> uninstall "Documents to go"
or:
Disable (do nothing option) sync of "Documents to go" using the application, not from HotSync Manager.

Lost files - due to soft reset?

just check your PalmOne folder, see if anything there, i.e., : C:\Program Files\palmOne\\Internal Drive Backup *********************** well, a hard reset should be able to restore to LD new-out-of-the-box state, if you don't need to save any corrupted files in LD drive... But if they are something really important, what you can do is to copy whatever files out to a PC (i.e., via drive mode on a PC), and see if you can recover it with data recovery apps, or better yet, do it straight on the LD drive - although the chance of success is slim. What you described on previous post, sounds like the FAT table has messed up, and seems very similar to a PC HDD failure.

Apps in LifeDrive partition don't show up in Favorites or built-in Launcher??

Apps and datafile should be put into the Lifedrive\Applications directory. The OS looks there, some older apps may not find their data there and be 'hardwired' to look in the old SD card neighborhood and you will have to add the Palm\Launcher direcdtory to store those files. The Lifedrive\Documents folder was intended for Doc2Go datafiles only and many other programs don't know to look there. The standard OS can find the files if you put them in the right place. Power-run is great if you want to 'organize' your stuff to places the OS was not designed to look.

EM-500 music transfer

Seeing that you are using a EM500 with only 16mb of RAM, you might want to get a SD/MMC Card. With that being said, let's do this, shall we? Connect your PPC to your desktop using ActiveSync, then press on the TAB "Explore" then "My Pocket PC". You are interest in the "My Documents" folder, that is where you will place your .WMA, MP3, OGG files. Just copy the music file from your desktop that you want on your PPC, and then paste it to the "My Documents" folder of your PPC. Now if you have a storage card (MMC/SD), you will have to create a folder on the storage card and name it to "My Documents". So you will then have 2 My Documents folders, one on storage card, and 1 on the PPC. If you want the Music file on the storage card to save space on your PPC, then do the following. Connect the PPC to your desktop using activesync, then press on the TAB "Explore" then "My Pocket PC". You then need to click on the "Storage Card" folder, there you will see your "My Documents" folder you created. Just copy the music file from your desktop that you want on your PPC, then paste it to that folder. To speed things up, you can also use a MMC/SD Reader. you can then copy and paste directly on the memory card, without going thru ActiveSync. Goodluck, and have fun!
