If it used to work, then try unplugging and
reconnecting the AC power cable for USB scanners. No guarantees at all,
but it may work. Unplugging and reconnecting the Firewire cable in XP
also sometimes works. Give it a few seconds to be detected.
go to start and control panel, choose option for Printers and under that you will see the Printer listed. You just have to make a right click on the Printer and choose option "USE PRINTER ONLINE"
Unplug printer and try cleaning the contact pins of the cartridge holder/carriage with a moist clothe or tissue. Check also the flex cable if it has been worn or eaten by a rodent. Check also the cartridge number specification, maybe you have replaced a wrong cartridge.
