Kenmore Electric Dryer Series 80 Model

I have a Kenmore Electric Dryer Series 80 Model 110.86980800 MX4737306. The heating element works - it's bright red when I open the door. My problem is that there is a hot, burning smell coming from something. All lint has been cleaned out of everywhere. Any assistance will be helpful. Thanks!

Disconnect the dryer from your vent completely,. pull dryer out 3 ft. from wall and test to see if the smell continues, You have to test for a few minutes to clear out any burning lint from vent restrictions. If the smell hoes away then you know you have venting problems. Also check on the grate that covers the element( the part you look through when you see the orange glow from the element) sometimes plastic or clothing burns onto this grate and needs to be cleaned off. I the smell remains, you will have to tear down the dryer to see if you can find the cause of the smell.

My Kenmore 80 Series dryer is no longer heating up? What part needs to be replaced??

Gas or Electric? If Gas it could be the gas valve isn't opening, this keeps the burner from lighting. If electric your heating element is most likely burned out.

No heat in kenmore series 80, model 85040

hello there:
here is some troubleshooting ideas for you to help
A dryer sometimes won't heat or heats too slowly because of a variety of reasons. By following the guidelines below, you can inspect the heating elements on a gas or electric dryer to pinpoint the source of the problem.
Electric heating elements, found in electric dryers, are self-contained units located in the back of the dryer. A defective heating element is frequently the source of no-heat or drying problems. Remove the back service panel to gain access to the elements.
The heating elements are located inside the heater ducts. If you think a heating element is faulty

If this is a new element, this is normal until it has been used a few cycles. Use it and watch it carefully for a while. If it continues have a competent person to take the rear panel off and check for burnt wires or lint inside the unit.

My kenmore series 80 electric dryer does not heat. I am replacing the TCO, but it does not appear to be hooked up. There are red wires going directly into the heating element, but the TCO lead is...

Yes, hook it up, but before you do that Vacuumn every piece of lint out of the cabinet. Also check TCO and check the thermostats for continuity. They should all read zero ohms.If one of them is open, replace it.

Also use your ohmmeter to check the heating element, It should not show an open condition.

My Kenmore 80 series electric dryer won't heat. I

The bottom limit is engineered to open at 250F and the small top one is supposed to open at 300F. The bottom did not have time to click in and so it is considered weak. the kit comes with both thermostats in it Part number 279769
