How do I set an access point for my multimedia messages(NokiaN70)

I receive multimedia messages all the time, but i have no idea how to set an access point?
- also, will it cost me to set an access point?

Access point setting doesnt cost u anything....neither receving a multimedia message...only if u sent a multimedia message costs u depending on operator tariff
u can set up an acces point by 2 ways
1.manually...if only u know ur access point..then u need to go in multimedia settings and enter access point
2. ask ur operator they will sent u the multimedia settings with access point..via text message n u can save that automatically

I have received a MMS. i have user name and password.please tel me where do i type this.i can not see any screen asking for username and password.please advise

Configure using settings wizard MMS for Nokia
1.Press the Menu key on your phone.
2.Scroll to and select Applications.
3.Scroll to and select Sett. wizard to launch the Nokia settings wizard.
4.Scroll to and select Operator.
5.Select Start > Multimedia message and follow the wizard's on-screen steps to automatically configure the phone with the required operator service settings.
Configure MMS settings

To configure MMS settings, select Menu > Messaging > Options > Settings > Multimedia message
Additional MMS settings include:
1.Image size - Define the size of the image in a multimedia message.
2.MMS creation mode - If you select Guided, the device notifies you when you try to send a message that may not be supported by the recipient device. If you select Restricted, the device prevents you from sending messages that may not be supported. To include content in your messages without notifications, select Free.
3.Access point in use - Select which access point is used as the preferred connection.
4.Allow anonymous messages - Reject messages from anonymous senders.

Send MMS Multimedia messages can be sent in a number of ways. An example of the steps required to send an image is listed below:
1.Select Menu > Photos.
2.Select the image you want to send.

Tips If you are unable to send and receive MMS, try these simple steps.
1.Check if the MMS settings (for example, MMS access point) are correct in your device. These settings are sent by the operator or service provider. See Operator or service provider settings.
2.Operators usually set a limit for the size of a picture message. If you need to send a picture that is large in size, you can resize it before it is sent. See Image size.
3.Contact your operator or service provider to confirm whether:
•Data plan is activated on your SIM card.
•Roaming is activated when you are not in your home network.


IF you want to see your MMS through go to your service provide site.and click the MMS and fill the username and password, and hit enter. you see your MMS in inbox double click to view the MMS.

I cant receive mms

The phone has a 4-way directional 'Navi' key and 2 soft keys on either side of this and 4 additional soft keys either side of the keypad. The Navi key can also be pressed in to select options.


1. Select 'Menu' (press Navi Key).
2. Scroll to 'Settings' and select (press Navi key).
3. Scroll to 'Configuration' select (press Navi key).
4. Scroll to 'Personal configuration settings' and select (press Navi key).
5. Press 'Options' (left softkey) highlight 'Add new' select (press Navi key).
6. Highlight 'Multimedia msg.' and select (press Navi key).
7. Highlight 'Account Name' select (press Navi key), enter 'giffgaff MMS' then 'OK' (press Navi Key).
8. Highlight 'Server address' select (press Navi key), enter http://mmsc.mediamessaging.co.uk:8002' and 'OK' (press Navi Key).
9. Highlight 'Use preferred access point' and select (press Navi key), highlight 'No' and 'Select' (press Navi key).
10. Highlight 'Access point settings' and select (press Navi key).
11. Highlight 'Proxy' select (press Navi key), Highlight 'Enable' and select (press Navi key).
12. Highlight 'Proxy address' select (press Navi key), enter '193.113.200.195' and 'OK' (press Navi key).
13. Highlight 'Proxy port' select (press Navi key), enter '8080' and 'OK' (press Navi key).
14. Ignore 'Data bearer' as this is set at 'Packet data'.

24. Highlight 'Multimedia msgs.' and select (press Navi key).
25. Ignore 'Delivery reports' as preset to 'No'.
26. Ignore 'Image size' as preset to '640x480'.
27. Ignore 'Default slide timing' as preset to '00:08'.
28. Ignore 'Allow multimedia reception' as preset to 'Yes'.
29. Ignore 'Incoming multimedia messages' as preset to 'Retrieve'.
30. Ignore 'Allow adverts' as preset to 'Yes'.
31. Highlight 'Configuration settings' and select (press Navi key).
32. Ignore 'Configuration' as this will change to 'Personal config.' with the next step.
33. Highlight 'Account' and select (press Navi key).
34. Highlight 'giffgaff MMS' and select (press Navi key).
35. Press the right softkey 5 times to get back to the standby screen.

The MMS settings are now complete.

ok your settings look 'pefect'
contact VODAFONE customer care on 191 on a pay monthly handset 2345 on a pay and go

they will be able to guide you through the mms set up procedure

try this menu then settings then connectivity then network then access point then new access point then fill in it is case sensitive so do it exact name: MEdia Net
bearer setting: gprs APN: wap.cingular user id: [email protected] Password: CINGULAR1 Primary server: 066.209.011.061 Secondary 000.000.000.000
then save it

then go back to menu then internet then settings then network profiles then new profile then fill in name: MEdia Net homepage: device.home proxy: on ip address: 066.209.011.061 port number: 9201 access point MEdia Net then save then options then activate

then menu then messaging then settings then multimedia then network profiles name:MMS homepage mmsc.cingular.com proxy: on ip address:066.209.011.061
port number: 9201 access point MEdia Net then save then activate you may have to highlight mms to activate .
