does your system match the system requirments of windows vista 2006 version, if not then it will not start, o.s today require high computer specs in order for it run properly, you should know the specification of your system before you had win vista installed does your system have requirments to run win vista, if not better revert back to the o.s. where it runs smoothly or have it upgraded to accomodate windows vista

800 MHz processor and 512 MB of system memory, 20 GB hard drive with at least 15 GB of available space, Support for Super VGA graphics, DVD-ROM drive.
But i recommend at least 1GB RAM for Vista Home Basic - Home Premium and at least 2GB RAM for the rest.

I do not quite understand your configuration, but 512 MB RAM is certainly not enough to run Vista Ultimate in any productive way.

I think if you try to install vista you should be fine. just check the system requirements for vista to make sure your computer can handle it. If you have any special hardware devices then you might want to find any drivers for it and have them on hand just in case
