If you are attempting to connect an LCD projector to a laptop, you connect a monitor cable to your video card and the other end to the monitor input connector. You may have to use an adapter, I know on my LCD projector I had to use a DVI to VGA connector.
Can't say much more not knowing if you are having a problem with a particular brand of projector

No signal from computer to projector

That might be because of the weak or bad connection of computer or the projector. Also you should check whether the projector is out of order or not.

Can I connect a projector (for presentations powerpoint etc )to my HP Compac desktop? Works with my laptop but need to use the Desktop also.

You should be able to. It will somewhat depend on what video connections your PC has and what the projector will allow. If your desktop does not have the correct connections you can get a video card that should have what you need. Here is a link to video cards from a reputable dealer.

PC connected to projector shows only in Blue

Are you saying that the projection is solid blue? Is it similar to, say, the desktop on the laptop screen? Try moving your mouse off to the right side of the laptop. Did it show up on projector? Exciting! Try dragging stuff over. Damn, this is sweet.

I have a HP lcd projector. It works fine when connected to dvd player but when connected to PC it does not. The picture and other icons are ghosted! is the problem with pc or projector?

PC either driver missing or wrong one.
GO to the HP website with you model number and the version of windows that you are running and download and install the driver for your icd projector device for your computer . It must match the version of windows that you have. If one is not availavle then you cvannot use the device with the computer untill one is written.

Displays desktop background but nothing else

I discovered that my laptop supports two monitors and the projector was acting as monitor #2. By changing the priority of the monitors I have got the information I need on the screen, but now not on the laptop. However, I can work the two from the screen and that will suffice for the moment, until I can find a way of getting the information on both!

Video projector from a laptop

You can connect the Projector to the VGA Port of the Notebook which is a Blue Port which can be seen at the rear of any desktop computer to which we usually connect the Monitor to.

The VGA Port will have 15 holes on it and should be in Blue colour.

You can locate the VGA Port at the Left side of the Notebook.

Locate the port according to the information available below :

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00726464.pdf

Refer to page number 14 (18 of 32) in the manual.

Once you connect the Projector to this port, hold the FN key and press F4 key once.

This wil get the Display on the Projector connected to the Notebook.

If you just want the display only on the Projector, hold the FN key and press the F4 again.

Now, if you want the display back on the LCD of the Notebook, Press the FN + F4 third time.

Hope this helps..
