INSERT SIM The SIM is inserted in the phone , but the display shown that "INSERT SIM". I have used my phone for last 8 months.From yesterday the problem is found. the last two days Mobile model: Samsung SGH-C160

Inactive sim is usually related to your SIM Card, you should try reinserting your SIM card again, to see if it works, or simply insert your current SIM card into another phone to check if there is any service. should both failed. you have to unlock the previously launched network in your mobile(nokia1600).Then go for another desired network.To unlock old network,Get the unlock code from the website http://www.unlock-free.com were codes or free.Give your mobile name, model, network and country to get the code.

Yesterday I also got the same problem on Samsung DUOS SGH-D780!
I found temporary solution how to drop this error message and run the phone normally, but after next reboot it often become again. I will ask Samsung tech. support about this, but now here is the emergency solution:

1. Turn OFF the phone (by removing the battery)
2. Move out all the SIM cards from the phone
3. Insert the battery again (BUT DON'T TURN ON THE PHONE, just insert the battery)
4. Insert a charging cable into the phone and insert the adapter in wall outlet

(then I see the loading screen for the short time and after that CHARGING icon appears)

5. After that turn ON the phone. It will start in no-sim mode.
6. Turn OFF the phone
7. Remove battery, insert SIM-cards, insert the battery.
8. Turn ON the phone

After that it gonna be work good until next reloading...

remove the mobile parts safely and clean each and every part 
see if anything like broken like tat to the pins where u put the sim tat could be the problem

You have to insert the smart card all the way in on these phones. You can use a pen cap or something to push it all the way in there until it goes all the way in and click and stays there. Then it will not say " insert smart chip" anymore.

This problem is due to your phone's sim card IC malfunctioning. It may get damaged due to phone dropping gently into rough surface and its crystal structure may break due to it. for any queries mail to [email protected]

well... seem like you phone has got locked from the network may be accidently in case of stolen better check you service provider and if they say every thing is fine try to flash your mobile .it has some perticular number to flash it try these number *#7780# (password 12345)
