Don't even mess with software or gimmicls here because they don't work on laptops. This is something I've done numerous times and on all kinds of Acer laptops. You need to locate your Cmos battery, also known as the RTC battery. If you cannot find it, it means that it is on a place on the motherboard that cannot be seen from any access panel or opening. There is a battery, it is just out of the way. The trick here is that when you find it, you must "short" the two pins of the coket on the motherboard, that is the socket that the battery plug fits into. The easiest way is to get another rtc battery and caut the plug off, bare the wires and twist them together and cover with tape. This shorts out the pins and does a very nice job. Place this "shorting" plug in the socket on the motherboard and power up the laptop. Just keep it powered up for about 30-45 seconds and then power it down. Remove the "shorting" plug and reattach the normal RTC battery. Put the laptop back together and reboot. You will have to reset the BIOS now since it will have ben all reset. I'll get you a service manual that may help in your quest. It will be below...good luck, ParrotHead PC Repair.
