No sound when watching tv but have sound when playing the video game or watching a dvd

Is the mute activated or any buttons on the remote jammed? If the color system/format has changed when you connected it to games, it has to be changed back to what it was, making it suitable for TV reception.

Rainbow color effect appears when Samsung LCD plays Wii or DVD

Hello, I have a question which video inputs are you using for your DVD and Wii connections? The reason I ask is because this sounds like video distortion cuased by noise. If possible can you send a picture of the screen when it has this problem and send which video ports are being used? If it is noise in the video you may have a saw filter problem, or a decoupling issue. In any event I'll know more once you send those pictures and which inputs you are using for your DVD and Wii. Playing DVDs on Laptop through the TV

Here's what's happening... software companies like CyberLink subscribe to the Macrovision requirements for playing DVDs and protecting copyrighted materials.

Macrovision has approved numerous video cards for what they call "TV Out" which allows the movie to be displayed on your TV.

Unfortunately, your Dell Inspiron does not have a Macrovision approved and supported video card in it, so it gives instructions to the computer to disable TV Out and not allow it to play anywhere besides the computer.
