Thanks CoolDragon. Ifollowed your advice and eventually replaced it.

After trying to pull out and reseat the fuser a few times (I would even get one or two prints out of it each time), I finally ordered another fuser and problem has gone away. I did google and purchasing site searches (pricegrabber, pricewatch, etc) and found a decent priced site, that also gave discount for your returned bad unit (they gave you so many days to return it), otherwise they'd charge your credit card for the extra dsicount they had origanlly given.

Your fuser is shot.... try the following or replace it:

50.x Fuser Error Description The device has experienced an internal hardware error.

  • 50.1 Low Fuser Error
  • 50.2 Slow fuser error
  • 50.3 High fuser error
  • 50.4 Fuser drive error
Recommended Action
  1. Turn off the device, and then disconnect the power cord.
  2. Remove the fuser and then wait at least 20 minutes. To do so, complete the following steps.
NOTE: These instructions can also be found in the User Guide (c00292207) for this product.
    1. Turn off the device, and then disconnect the power cable.
    2. Rotate the locks on the fuser to the unlocked position, see the Figure below. Figure 1: Location of Fuser Locks 2840 printer 50.1 & 50.2 error dometimes 13.0 erro - c00685504.jpg
    3. Grasp the fuser handle and pull the fuser assembly from the device, see the Figure below. Figure 2: Fuser Handle<2840 printer 50.1 & 50.2 error dometimes 13.0 erro - c00685505.jpgrc="/uploads/images/c00685505.jpg" alt="c00685505.jpg" class="h_mi" /> CAUTION: The parts on the internal surface of the fuser are very hot. To avoid being burned, do not touch those parts.
    4. Using both hands, slowly and steadily remove any print media from inside the device. Then, carefully reinsert the fuser and secure the locks.
    5. Reconnect the power cable, and then turn on the device.
  3. Wait for the device to initialize.
  4. If the error persists, replace the fuser assembly.
  5. If the error is still unresolved, contact Hewlett-Packard for technical support to troubleshoot the problem. Click here to go for more information about contacting Hewlett-Packard.

I am getting scanner error 5 massage on hp 2840

A tech needs to look at it. It could be as easy as just reseating the 4 wire bundle connector that comes off the scanner and connects to the formatter.
But, in any event a tech has to check it out.

Hp laserjet 2840 all in one gives FUSER ERROR

For any fuser error, the first thing that should be done is replacing the fuser. If the error still shows up after wards, it could be the LVPS (Low voltage power supply) or a board.

Replace Cathridge

The front panel tells you witch toner cartridge should you replace. If a supply memory error ocures then the cartridge should be replaced or exchanged with a new one. The imaging drum unit is also consumable. for "Joe 50" - there are 4 toner cartridges in the printer.
