My suggestion would be to check your scanning software and change the quality of the scan. If it is a document - you really don't need a quality above 200 - maybe even lower if it's available. I would guess your scanning software is defaulting to a much higher quality.

Testimonial: "Thank you for the suggestion. It was indeed the default PDF settings (undocumented) on my scanware. "

I can't select PDF for Format on the scan setting screen when scanning off Canon printer? There is no pdf option at all. What causing problem and what procedure should I follow to fix it?

I scan using M/S windows scan and fax app. I save the scan. Then I open the scan and print, selecting PDF printer on computer. From there I can open to read, send by email or print a hard copy from my printer.

We have mx 860 and there is no pdf option for scanning to. how do we get that option?

If from the MX860 you have proceeded through the scan menu and selected your computer, and you don't see PDF as an option, you will need to re-install your PDF software onto your computer. This will most likely solve the problem. If this does not work, you may want to try cycling of your PC and the Printer. If this does not work, you should also re-install or update the MX860 software.

How can i scan multiple pages into one pdf with mx870

Forget all the old postings here. They are not reflective of the 2016 information.

FEB 15 2016 For Windows 10
1. Open the Canon IJ Network Scan Utility. (Came with your MX870) on your PC. Make sure it is ENABLED. (Look for icon in the right side of your tray and right click on it.)

2. Open Canon MP Navigator EX Came with your MX870) on your PC.
2a. Click Scan/Import Button at the top.
2b. Click Photos/Documents (Platen) button on right side.

3. Place the first page of your document on the platen. Close lid.
3a. Click the green Scan big rectangular button.
3b. Remove first page of the document, place the second page of the document on the platen, close lid.
3c. NOTE: This time, there will be a small rectangular box in the same large white box that has the small thumbnails of the page of your document that you have scanned. The small box will be labeled "Scan Complete." There will be a note that says, "Scan complete, to continue scanning load the next document and click "SCAN." There are two choices only. "Scan" and "Exit."

4. Repeat step 3 - 3c clicking on the "Scan" button in the Scan Complete box for each page of the document. When the last page is scanned and the thumbnail is in the white box with the rest of the multi-page document, click on the "Exit" button.

5. Use the Ctrl button and choose each of the thumbnails representing the pages of the document you want to save as one file. Be sure they have a yellow frame highlighting each thumbnail, as well as have a small check in the little box at the bottom left of each thumbnail.

6. At the bottom left of the MP Navigator EX window, click on the rectangular box that says, "Save as PDF file."

7. Your multi-page PDF file will be saved in the location you have specified in the settings.

Lexmark X7350 Scan feature

well you are able to scan multiple documents.. but the file size is more.. the way lexmark software writes the pdf file.. the file will be huge for PDF... but not sure if this is a case with any other all in one manufacturer like HP also... but i would assume it would be the same.. so scan the file to MS WORD or any other application that supports multiple pages... so u have it as one file... but if u want only pdf files, then u have to do a little work around like writing the MS WORD Document to pdf format. If the PDF Writer is not installed with your copy of MSWORD then try any free pdf writer software available on the internet.
