Magnatron failure is rare. I suggest you check your door interlock safety switch. Do you regularly open the door while the machine is running? I did and I found out that the micro switches (door safety swwitch) are just not up to that kind of abuse. Your maching thinks the door is open because the contacts are burned to the point they do not close.

Unplug the machine, DO NOT TOUCH THE SILVER CAN! You will find the switches opposite the hinge. Check them with a volt ohm meter on contunity setting.

You cam probably get replacement switches at a electronics parts place.

There are other things that can be wrong but you should check these switches first. Cost should be less than $10.00 if you do it.

Let me know if this works for you.

Panasonic NN-A755

It does sound like the magnetron is failing, when it shuts down it is because the thermal fuse is detecting to much heat from the magnetron and shutting it down, I might add this part is the heart of the system, rough cost would be in the area of $100.00 maybe cheaper. Intallation of this part is very tricky and there is the danger of high voltage, I recommend a pro for safety and correct installation.

Panasonic NN-P794 NO HEAT this thing will run for 18 seconds only, then shuts off. Everything else works fine. Is it worth fixing?

Have you unplugged it and allowed it to reset itself? Sometimes the wire comes undone to the magnetron, that could be the answer. It is is bad (magnetron) it could be melted and dangerous to use. A bad magnetron is too expensive to repair. Also, another possiblity is the metalic shield may need fixed or replaced (about $20.00). If it's under warranty, take it back.

Hi,
This is a problem with the "magnetron". The magnetron part number for panasonic is 800-833-9626 worth 45$ approx.

Shuts off after 23 seconds....

In most cases when the microwave stops @ 23 seconds it's the Magnetron which has failed, and is shorting to earth.

Either that or the magnetron isn't getting the right signal from the inverter board. It gives it 20 seconds to get the right signal or it shuts itself off.

Panasonic Microwave only works for 37 secs no matter what time setting

If it stops after 22 seconds, that means the controller has detected a problem, usually a problem with the inverter or a bad magnetron.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced in inverters, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.
