Have you got it on a widescreen setting such as Zoom? If you have adjust the widescreen settings. On some TV's you can adjust the default widescreen. So when it's not showing a widescreen picture (auto mode) it changes to that setting. Some sets however only go to one default setting and it can't be changed.

You may need to adjust the aspect ratio of the picture, there is typically an "aspect" button on the remote that will adjust the picture from widescreen, super widescreen 16:9 ratio and sometimes you can zoom in. try that

How do i make picture fit screen? top and bottom of picture is missing

Some receivers have the ability to do this for you, for instance, all ViP and Hopper receivers from DISH can stretch or shrink the screen to fit. Most HDTvs also have this feature, independent of the type of input, using your TV remote find the button that says something along the lines of screen size, picture fit, stretch, aspect, etc. While watching a program that looks unlike the way you want it to, tap the button until the picture changes to the style you most prefer.

E472VL picture on HD cable channels does not fit screen correctly-how can we fix it?

Consult the manual---the answer lies in the size controls being grayed out so you cannot adjust or try to adjust the vertical size!

Top and bottom of screen are cut off how do we adjust to get screen to fit

Press the "Aspect" button on the remote until the picture looks appropriate. You are probably trying to display a 4:3 ratio channel on your 16:9 ratio TV. You are probably viewing it in "zoom" mode, which does not stretch the 4:3 ratio video, but enlarges it until it fits the width of the screen, which zooms part of the video off the top and bottom of the screen.

Picture and text extend beyond screen

Your tv needs to be put into service mode with the original Sony remote control and then set the vertical\horizontal size parameter to the correct values and then burn the new settings to memory
Google " sony tv service mode " and you should find the procedure. Good Luck! Write back if you have problems.

Picture stretch top/bottom for 1080i HD input

First thing to look at would be the source, make sure that this source whatever it may be is set to display a 16X9 format. Your set may simply be showing what it see's and it may be seeing the 4X5 format and giving you a problem

Picture is too big for screen

Go into the setup menu of the TV, and you'll find a category called DISPLAY or ZOOM. That's where you can change the aspect ratio so that it fits on the screen. You'll probably get a gray band on the top and bottom of the screen due to the re-sizing.
