Split screen, dark and then light, picture freezes

What causes the TV to freeze the picture, but audio continues. The picture constantly darkens and returns to normal and often has a split screen. The bottom of the screen maintains a freezing position and the rest of the screen continues to play.

My Ecco TV is playing but the problem is pic is not clear it's dark . Please help

The screen may become dark if Picture mode is set to Cinema or Custom. If the screen continues to remain dark after changing the picture quality mode, go to the Backlight, Picture, Brightness menu and adjust the brightness to your liking. When Power Saving is fixed to Low or High, the screen becomes dark. Some TVs have a Light Sensor so the picture will just become brighter or darker depending on the lighting in the room.
You can also try programming from a different source, like a DVD player or VCR to check whether the problem is caused by the device that sends the signal to the TV.

Why does my Toshiba tv screen go from dark to light?

The TV's main culprits to be causing this problem are "dynamic contrast" which maybe darkening the backl light in dark scenes an example a night time or a dark scene in a movie. To make the blacks be deeper (as LCD/LED TV are rubbish at blacks) or brighten it on bright scenes to make the light be lighter and once again to make the blacks be deeper so the images pop out. Also "eco lighting" this will dim or brighten the image based on the amount of light in a room in order to be saving energy. Ether way the easy fix is to turn both of these features off. You will get rid of the problem and enjoy more subtler shades of colour that would otherwise be bleached (brightend) or crushed(darkend) out..

Ihave Bushldc 26" T.V. and

The most common cause of that is signal break up causing firstly "blocking" of the picture and audio drop out. Heavy clouds can also cause signal deteriation as does heavy rain.
Hope that helps.

I have a LG PC1DV Plazma and every now and then the picture will freeze, the sound continues on and you cannot change channels. the only way to un freeze is to turn off tv wait 30 sec then turn back on and...

Contact your LG dealer & have someone call to check the software version currently used by the TV. It may need updated as there is an issue for picture freeze, if this is ok there could be a problem with the signal strength of your signal, if this drops then it will also cause the picture to freeze, in which case you would need to have your aerial checked.

JVC HDTV picture freezes

Try playing some DVD's for a number of hours to see if the fault is the DVR, or actualy the TV set. There is very little in these TV sets that can cause a picture freeze and still have sound!

Plasma TV

If you mean the picture froze or formed fuzzy pixelated picture and crackling, this will be due to a poor aerial signal to the tv, but if you mean the screen rolls with pink/white patchwork type squares and shows the picture in the background, all be it fuzzy, then that's the same fault as I am getting and have had to report the fault to LG as I am on my second TV. If it is the problem mentioned in the first sentence, it is happening to our friends in OS and they have been told by specialist aerial fitters, the signal is too weak for the tv.

DVD player freezes

If it's a very cheap unit, it's possibly because the machine can't process the information quickly or efficiently enough, thusly causing the picture to freeze up while the processing catches up with it. Friend has a $30 unit, which happens to constantly.
